If your looking for a small environment with very lovely people that treat you with care and importance in this small town of Winfield Kansas, then it is just the right liberal arts college for you. I loved how everyone was treated and how we all got along and the help every professor and advisor and I can go on and on about everyone provided to every student there in Southwestern. Every school has something special, and SC has this specialty with keeping your comfortable when you're far from home and welcoming you and always giving their full attention when you need help on anything. Very excellent school and prepares you for grad school very well!
Southwestern has a lot to offer the working adult. The flexible online schedules are perfect for family and single parents. The one thing that I wish to see change is the availability of classes throughout the sessions. Some classes are only offered during a specific session every year, so your only choice would be to double up if you need both. The ease of registering is a plus in my book. The book ordering is simple and streamlined. The academic advisors are very easy to get ahold of and are very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall the college is top-notch.
Southwestern likes to give off the idea that it’s a diverse close-knit community. Don’t get me wrong, there are different ethnicities on campus but not as much as SC likes to put it out there. They care the basketball and football team and about getting a good image out. The bball team I can understand because they produce numbers and bring the school championships but the football team just brought sadness but yet they get all of the sports money. The academics is what brings up the rating for the school. The classrooms aren’t to oversized with the exception of gen ed classes. But there is faculty st this school that really want to help you succeed.
