The faculty is professional and understanding. Most professors will offer alternatives to cheaper or will provide free texts for the course. Coursework is quite easy to understand and resources for tutoring and learning are advertised well around campus. Campus resources are easy to find. Classes are cheap compared to other local campuses in San Diego County. FAFSA will provide more aid when attending this school in comparison to City College. Really chill student life- laid-back people. Housing and transportation are necessary to thrive in this environment! Healthy food options are limited, I recommend eating at home. Snacks are everywhere for convenience on and around campus. Safe area, in the third safest city in California.
Excellent faculty team! Leaves you very well prepared for any 4 year university. I personally went from never having written a single line of code to getting my Bachelors in Computer Science 4 years later, and have a lot of piers from SWC who did the same! There's no need to second guess yourself about attending if SWC is your local community college, it won't limit you in any way. I even know a few people that got to transfer to Ivy League schools from here. SWC will give you all the resources, you just have to put in the work!
Southwestern College is truly a good college to go! It is a bridge connecting high school to community college to university! Southwestern is a small college which will help you transition from the high school setting. As well as the professors there are genuine, are willing to help you understand the material and give tips and tricks to help for when you apply/are at a university. Southwestern also captures a variety of different people with different backgrounds and interests, you're bound to make a friend. The counselors are also incredibly helpful and provide many types of resources and programs regarding your first year, financial assistance, transferring and obtaining your degree. I highly recommend Southwestern college, to build that college experience, connect with many others, finding your personal interests and achieving what you strive to be!
