Southwest University of Visual Arts - Tucson Reviews
SUVA is small and intimate. The maximum students in a class is around 25 students, the teacher has time to give each student full attention. SUVA doesn't hold any student back; if you want to create something, they encourage and help you achieve your goals. My classmates are fantastic! Supportive, honest, and open. Critique is professional and we support one another with our ideas. Two classes per day allow students to have a job and a life outside SUVA. Homework isn't over done either; its a steady pace. Its easy to focus on the task at hand; there is plenty of time to balance each work. The staff is small as well, so needing an answer to a question can be answered relative quickly with an email or an appointment. SUVA is a wonderful place for passionate artistic people.
The instructors are helpful, it's a good environment for artists. It would be nice if there was a little more variety so students could have a chance to learn from different instructors but overall it's a good place to grow.
I love my school. My overall experience has been a very positive one. It is extremely small, which I thought at first was going to be a downside. But, I like the fact that I know my instructors on a very personal level, and the small class size give me a chance to be a part of the discussions. All of my professors are very committed to teaching and are accessible for one on one communication. I would absolutely choose this school again.
