Hello, my name is Joshua Douglas going into my 5th year senior year starting this fall. I love Southern University as a school in its entirety, they culture is amazing. I am from Baton Rouge and the feeling of attending a HBCU in my hometown just is surreal. Although Southern has its up, every school is not perfect and has its downs. The financial aid office at the university is not the best. They really do not show any initiative when it comes to helping us. They drag their feet. Also some teachers are always not the best to be educating us. Other than those minor problems, everything else is great. Also, I'd love to get this scholarship because, due to COVID-19. My funds are extremely low and I need all the money I can get to finish school. Anything would help in a major way. Thanks in advance!

Southern is a great university where almost every one is accepted and rarely anyone is left out! The culture is amazing and welcoming, while also giving you the experience of what life will be like in the real world. It is a big enough campus to where you don't feel crowded, while also being small enough in which you are able to see familiar faces while walking through campus. The Campus life is great, and has something for every student to enjoy such as pretty Wednesday, pageants, clubs, Greek Life and more.
I absolutely LOVE my HBCU! This school is diverse (even thought it's a historically black college) and the other students are very nice and friendly. There are people all over that come to this university, it's amazing. There are many events and activities as well, you're never bored or idle. The professors really care about their students, they make sure you get the help you need and make sure your work is done.
