My experience at Southeastern Louisiana University is like no other. I could not imagine myself at any other University. With the great education, staff, food and student activities it can’t get any better! The diverse environment makes the whole campus thrive and all of the student organizations make it brighter. This university sets a good example on what a university should be, the people that I feel get the less recognition are the academic advisors without their guide our paths would be lost and southeastern definitely has the best ones.
The Hammond campus is pretty good! I really felt welcomed and everyone was really friendly and willing to help me grow as a student. I felt like the campus was growing and there were more degrees and opportunities being offered However, once I became accepted into nursing school things began to change. There was a significant lack of communication to students entering the program about how the program is run and where. The Baton Rouge campus feels unsafe and inadequate for proper learning. There is little to no supplied and classrooms and technology are severely dated. Also because all nursing classes are conducted other places outside of the Hammond campus many students do not get to enjoy all the amazing things SELU has to offer. I wish that at least someone would have told be about the reality of SELU nursing school before I applied. Had I not been getting my general Studies Degree I may have transferred. I do not feel safe taking classes or going to clinical in Baton Rouge.
Southeastern Louisiana University is a friendly, safe, and big environment that offers lots of opportunities for their students and wants them to succeed! I have been very fortunate to find great professors who are willing to give their time, both during and off, of their office hours to help students learn to study and succeed! I never really knew how to focus my attend, establish proper study habits, and be able to get As on my exams which made me believe I was not good enough. This college has given the tools and confidence to know that I can and will do better!
