South Texas College isn't for everyone but when it comes to saving money this college was a great place to go. Although it may seem like a smaller campus it looks more of a high school rather than a college with more of a college feel. Some things I did enjoy was choosing your classes online. I took a my English courses online and it honestly helped me learn better on my own than at a set time. Of course, assignments were due by the end of the week but, it benefit me alot. Some changes I would love to see in STC is more restaurants open for college students to enjoy and a more areas to sit down and relax. Although the college is mid sized, there is a lot of room for improvement. Overall, I see myself finishing my basics here and transfering in the near future.
I was a dual credit student who eventually ended up taking enough college classes to be a full time one. The overall experience has been great. It feels very small, but if you do what you gotta do and get the right classes you should do well. Teachers from my experience are helpful and try their best. The resources are great for what the campus is!
I am taking courses with South Texas College as a dual enrollment high school student from Veterans Memorial High School. I've started taking classes since I was a sophomore and I am currently a senior. I am on the path to completing my associate's of arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. I can say it has been a struggle juggling all my full time courses along side my high school courses and extra curriculars; however, I can also say that the professors are extremely understanding. I don't think I've ever had one professor or instructor that doesn't understanding where his/her students are coming from. Some professors lectures don't grasp everyone's attention but for the most part, courses are not difficult at all. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA, but I have withdrawn from some classes, due to misunderstandings. With that being said, I can't say the same about the "customer service." Advisors are willing to work with you, but when it comes to some cases, they aren't much help. It's all you!
