I love attending Shelton state Community College. It is a very good school to get your basic classes before going off to a four year university. It has an arrangement of sports, such as men's and women's basketball, baseball, and cheerleading. Shelton State has two campuses one is called Martin campus which I attend and the other is called Fred campus. Shelton State offers degrees and certificates such as biology, nursing, forestry, cosmetology, theater, culinary arts, welding, and applied science. Shelton State has other classes and extracurricular activities one can take such as theater, band, art, aerobics, Spanish, and tai chai. Shelton State has a Chick-fil-A where one can eat. Offers arrangement of plays, hair shows, and band shows throughout the year and you can pay what you can for some of the theater plays. Shelton offers financial aid and scholarships such as the Phi theta kappa government organization. Shelton does not offer housing but one can stay in an apartment.
Considering its affordability, Shelton is a great community college to attend before continuing into higher education and an excellent college for a short-term degree. You can quickly get through general courses and transfer your credits to (for example) the University of Alabama. I cannot speak about dorms and campus food because I was raised in the area, so there's no reason for me to buy an apartment or regularly purchase food on campus; anyways, from what I hear, the food trucks are terrific. The food trucks are typically open from Monday to Friday; they were available during the pandemic, so I am sure that was very helpful for those who are food insecure.
Shelton was and is a tremendous community college full of academic, as well as, athletic opportunities. It is one of the top academic and safest institutions in the state of Alabama. It is easy to make friends there, and it is easy to find people to help you with work, like for tutoring assistance specifically. I was a member of the Fine Arts department, and my time spent there was well deserved and well spent. I thoroughly enjoyed every opportunity I got to sing and play music there. My academic teachers were some of the nicest people I have ever met and learned from. I highly recommend Shelton State Community College to any student looking for a school to attend.
