There are so many classes offered and a variety of well-known teachers! The teachers really enjoy their subject and you can tell how passionate they are when teaching. There's a variety of times available too, which is the main reason I love SSCC so much! It is super flexible for a full-time worker like me! Class sizes are small, typically around 15-20 in a class, which I feel helps you get more out of your experience. You will learn a lot, be able to ask questions, more apt to make friends, develop a relationship with your professor, etc.

My major as a Paralegal is being discontinued after my class receives their degree. There are not many classes taught to prepare to be a Paralegal; however, there are tons of business classes that help. I have learned lots of things in my paralegal classes, such as how to write a brief, how to complete legal research, how to find similar cases, how to understand legal terms, etc. My teachers have told me that students in law school are currently learning how tondo those things and I just love that SSCC is teaching me how to effectively do it so early in my career so I will be prepared!
Here at Shelton State you will find some of the highest quality, caring, and respected Professors, Instructors, and staff in Tuscaloosa. Scholarships are well provided and the transfer rates are a pro. One con is that you will not find is a strong school spirit and community. There is a distinct lack of unity and school pride as you might like to experience. However, Shelton State takes education seriously and they will prepare you to transfer. I strongly encourage students to join Phi Theta Kappa and Shelton's Ambassador Program. They will provide tremendous scholarship opportunities that make CC the best choice for students paving their way on their own financially. Shelton also boasts of an extremely talented cheer leading team, decent baseball program, and solid basketball program. Shelton State is dedicated to student success and has prepared me for success as I prepare to transfer and I have no doubt that it will prepare you as well.
