Sophomore: My experience at Louisiana Tech University has been overall very positive. Just in the first week, my college held events that allowed me to put myself out there and make some of the best friends I have ever made. LA Tech makes it so easy to hang out anywhere with friends and study or just hang out. The academics are also very good. I have learned so much this past year, and most of my teachers have been very considerate and have helped me when I have asked for it. Freshman: LSU is not only diverse, campus wise, but they have a diverse set of options for students who have specific interest. For example, for those who enjoy sports, we have some of the best football games/events in the nation, aswell as one of the best Recreational centers I've seen. On the other hand, students who are more focused on the academics, have opportunities like the honors college and academic groups. Ofcourse, it doesn't just stop there, as there is a vast amount of religious and inclusive organizations. Another great aspect on campus are the friends I've made, many of the residence and students on campus are kind and open minded. Louisiana State is currently changing. Theyve had new additions and renevations to the Engineering College and they are currently working near the Science Hall. Many of the campuses problems are actively being worked on, like more security around campus. I've really enjoyed my experience thus far and would like to continue my education here!... Freshman: The university always tries to connect with students. That being on social media or announcing any events during class. In addition to this, the professors are a very helpful resource. They try to communicate as best as they can to students. They let us know that it is not as hard as we think it is, but if we try to try our hardest, it would be a breeze for our learning experience. Moreover, the university also worries for their students. For example, they keep us up to date with any weather hazard and gives us any tips or advice on how to handle severe weather. For example, this heat. They let us know to wear baggy clothing, always bring a water bottle, and to rest on the shade when we feel tired. To add on, they keep us poster for events or for fun activities for residential students when they feel bored in dorms. Sophomore: So far, my experience at Northwestern Stare University has been great! The classes are smaller than other public universities, and my professors know me by name and are happy to help students if they struggle in a particular subject. The faculty at NSU wants every student to succeed, so they all make sure to get the students in the classes that they need to graduate by helping with scheduling. There are also so many opportunities to get involved on campus- there is something for everyone. Campus involvement also provides an opportunity for scholarships, which is amazing! Academically, there isn’t anything I would like to be changed, but there is one thing that needs to be considered: the roads. They are very bumpy and a lot of the commuters and others who drive on campus have popped tires and damaged their vehicles because of the roads. Senior: I love the professors that are at Nicholls. They are very understanding and very helpful. Most of them are deemed as "mean", but this just means that they are doing their job. Freshman: I am in the dual enrollment program at McNeese State University during my senior year and have had a very pleasant experience while attending classes. It will help me when I become a full time McNeese State collage student. The instructors have been a great help to me as I have worked my way through learning the ins and outs of the university. The campus is nice and inviting while not too expansive to get to classes daily. It is in the heart of the Lake Charles area making it convenient to do things and go places when I am not in class. While having many choices of food on campus, there are a verity of restaurants close by making it convenient to get a good meal. I feel the investment into my future will be best served at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Junior: I love Southern! The atmosphere is great and it feels as if you’re apart of a family! However, I would like to see a few things change. The campus and surrounding area could be worked on drastically. Most buildings are old and worn down so that could use some improvement. Also making sure that the students have a secure safe area around the school should be a priority. There’s not much to do around Southern, but if you are to drive 10 minutes away towards LSU campus the surrounding area is amazing filled with multiple shopping and food areas. Junior: LSUHSC has been an incredible experience. I am confident that I am receiving some of the best medical training in the country. The facilities are incredible, especially the new NSTC which offers state-of-the-art SIM and lab educational experiences. It seems like the university is concerned with maintaining a diverse workforce, which is nice to see compared to it's campus in Baton Rouge--- the DEI department is constantly looking for ways to improve the student culture on campus. The faculty is very present, and invested making the program as efficient for students as possible. Organizationally, there could be some work. At times, deadlines are not met, and details are not completed on the administrative side. The school of nursing emphasizes a "chain of command" communication system that is often effective when issues arise within the faculty, but the administration seems to be on its own island.... Recent Alumnus: ULL is the only school I know of where education and culture go hand-in-hand. It was an experience like no other being able to attend a university that not only incorporated local flare in the classroom, but also tried to gear many lessons into how we could use our knowledge and skills to impact our state and the south coast region. Sophomore: What I liked most about my experience at Northwestern State University this far is the flexibility of my school schedule. I am a wife and mother and I also work full time. The structure of the online learning has worked really well for me and my family. Another thing that I like is that when it is time to register for class my advisor is readily available and can help me get registered if I am having any issues. I am capable of viewing the classes that are still needed and I am also capable of registering myself for the classes during the registration period. Every instructor that I have had so far has been really responsive when I have had questions throughout the course period. As of right now there is not anything that I would change.
