Alum: UConn overall was a good experience, however I think the transition through COVID-19 could have been handled better. The school's stringent social distancing policies had a grave impact on the mental health of the student body and left very few opportunities to immerse oneself in the Husky culture. This sudden shift in student living as well as the majority of classes being conducted online should have resulted in a noticeable decrease in tuition, but this was, unfortunately, not the case. Sophomore: Uconn Avery Point was extremely good to me over the course of the semester and a half that I spent there. The small classroom sizes and attention given to students from the staff is something that I found extremely beneficial. I was able to get to know my teachers personally and the professors were always willing to help and responded to my emails in a timely manner. While at Uconn Avery Point I was also a member of the basketball team. This was a great experience as my team, along with the whole athletic department, made me feel like I was wanted and that I was important. The only negative about Uconn Avery point is that there isn’t any on campus living but I looked forward to my 30 minute drive everyday! I would definitely recommend Uconn Avery Point for students who are looking to go to the Uconn Storrs campus after. Freshman: I love the architecture of the academic building. Though it may look small, it is easier to interact more with professors, students, and advisors. The dorms are a 5-minute walk from the academic building and there are many restaurants and stores for students to go to, even with discounts at specific places! Freshman: Its a good campus and the staff is very welcoming! I enjoy my experience here, so far. Including the transitioning because I am a freshman and going into a new environment not knowing anyone was difficult for me to deal with. The campus is not to far from where I live and I am able to go to school, work, and enjoy my experience while being at the school. I can't wait to further my education at UConn Hartford. Graduate Student: I really enjoyed that the school was small enough to have a 25 person class but big enough to see many different people. I really loved some of the professors here and it was easy to tell which professor really cared about their students. The psychology department at Eastern is very advanced and we were even asked to conducted a research study and write a whole paper about our findings. Junior: I am currently a Junior at Southern Connecticut State University, where I am studying Elementary Education as well as a Division II athlete on the Women's Lacrosse Team. The atmosphere and structure of the school provides me with a great education as well as college experience. My experience with academics has been amazing. My professors push me to my highest potential and make sure that I am set up for success. Being a student athlete can be hard at times, but Southern does an amazing job making sure all students are comfortable and supported through every step of the way in the college experience. Sophomore: A few years ago, I dropped out of art school. The courses I took in art school were unique to my major and school, so I knew most of my credits would not transfer over to another college. I was not impressed with the credit evaluations I received from most of the schools I applied to. After doing months of research, I stumbled upon a forum discussing transfer-friendly colleges. COSC was mentioned a few times, so I decided to apply and see what would happen. I was accepted fairly quickly and recieved an amazing credit evaluation back. Most of my classes transferred in, and the credits I needed to complete, I was able to take through Sophia.org. I have to take off one star because COSC uses Blackboard (hate it) and the student portal site is buggy and outdated. COSC should also replace the "College" in their name with "University" and update their site and branding. Other than that, excellent school and helpful instructors!
