Graduate Student: I earned my undergrad at Utah State and I’m currently enrolled in graduate school here. I’ve had an experience that has been exponentially more incredible than previously imagined! Great professors who listen, help, and are willing to do much more outside of class to augment a student’s learning experience than any of the several professors whose classes I attended while at BYU my first two years. I’m grateful for having transferred to a better school that’s more suited for students that don’t want to be like required to earn non-transferable religion credits that are unnecessarily difficult and consume way too much study time. No matter where you are, Snow has affordable pricing when it comes to education and matter of fact, helps you financially by just contacting them. Not to mention, Snow College is consistently ranked as one of the top educational institutions in the country, making it a great place to earn and achieve an excellent education. And, if a Snow College has an excellent reputation and is affordable for a lower class of people, why wouldn't you attend and at least give them a shot! Freshman: I love SUU! I've lived in the same city as SUU my whole life, so i never really looked into it until i decided to go there! The advisors are amazing, all of the professors ive had so far are super fun and really easygoing as far as the workload goes. The campus life is super vibrant--there's always something going on and its really easy to stay connected if you choose to. I've received in-state tuition, which makes the college really affordable, but even the out-of-state tuition is really not that bad comparably. Alum: Weber State University so a mix of social and academic. I found the professors to be interesting, dedicated, and knowledgeable. They really did want me to succeed. I recall when I graduated, one of my professors gave me a hug as I walked by. That meant a lot to me and I have always remembered it. I also recall a professor of Russian history who never uses a single PowerPoint presentation, an image, a video, or any other interactive media. All she did was stand at the front of the room and talk. It was the most fascinating class I ever took at that school! She was so engaging and her personal experiences so interesting that she didn’t need anything but her voice. On the social side, I made a friend or two that I am still in contact with today. Junior: I've really loved my overall experience at Utah Valley University! The process of planning out courses, applying for scholarships, and taking on a courseload is incredibly simple and easy to understand. I've had some really amazing teachers who care about the student gaining skills and information. I've also had some really bad teachers, though those have been far fewer. One downside is that UVU claims to be a safe space for all religions and ideologies, but several teachers support an anti-religious mindset in the classroom. As a religious student this made it hard for me to feel welcome engaging in some of my classes. Niche User: DSU is over all a good school. All the professors I have had have been very helpful and passionate (as always there are a few bad apples). The campus and its resources are growing exponentially- I have no idea where they are getting all their money for new things from! It is in a gorgeous area with lots of outdoorsy activities available. The climate is amazing, barely rains or snows, the sun is always shining. Tuition is cheap and its easy to qualify for their academic scholarships and get accepted. Diversity is a little lacking. However, the locals are all super warm and accepting. The campus isn't ginormous so you don't have to walk forever. And there is all sorts of housing near by. Dixie State University is changing its name to Utah Technical University in the near future- so watch out for that if you are interested in applying! Alum: This school will challenge you. But it will be worth it. All the professors here are experienced in their industry. Sure, some of them will be adjuncts talking about their divorce, but they are still field experienced. They also have a great career services department, a focus on real world skills, connections with hundreds of companies, and you get to live in an actual apartment within 2 miles of downtown SLC. Sophomore: I have taken the introduction to drafting classes and it was so fun! The instructors really know what they are talking about and have real-world experience which was something that I was drawn to most.
