Sophomore: As a current student-athlete of Rochester University, I am loving my experience at this institution. Growing up in a small Christian school for 5 years of my life, Rochester University feels very familiar to me in terms of the size and dynamic of the school. I love how small it is, yet how great of a profile it has. Being able to play sports for this school also makes my experience even better. The facilities are nice and clean, there's a beautiful park in the backyard of the school, and the teachers and students here are so wonderful. The small class sizes creates a more personal connection with my professors and it makes me feel like I am getting much more out of my college experience. Sophomore: Even before I decided to go or not I received a phone call from the college asking if I had any questions or concerns they could help answer for me. No other college did this for me or showed such an interest. Once I got to the college itself, I was received with open arms and the feeling of home I hadn't felt at any other college I had looked at. Freshman: I'm a freshman at CCS studying Crafts and Material Studies. The education is super individualized in my experience, probably because of the great student-teacher ratio. I've learned so many new techniques since I've been here. The social life is subpar, but it is present and it's amazing to be surrounded by so many creatives! Alum: I absolutely loved my experience at Cornerstone University. The classes are small enough to feel valued and seen by professors, making the development of relationship between staff and student accessible if wanted. I enjoyed being able to talk to professors directly for any support I needed in class. I also love the Christ-centeredness of the campus. I lived in the freshman dorms for 3 years (one as an RA) and loved the community there. I made lifelong best friends. I was challenged in my thinking in such a good way and I developed so much positive character as a result of my time there. The staff helped prepare me for post-graduate jobs as they have great resources for career counseling available to all students. I went while Joseph Stowell was president so I can't speak to what it is like anymore, but campus was thriving under his leadership and I think largely due to his humble stature. Senior: At Madonna University, I had the ability to transfer 3 years of classes from a community college. The faculty at the school made the transition seamless. Senior: I absolutely love OU! It's a very welcoming and inviting place. It is pretty diverse; I think it has been growing more and more diverse every year since my freshman year. They have some of the best dorm rooms that a college could have (even the freshman dorms are super nice) and let me not get started on the apartments (beautiful!). This college is affordable (free housing if you live in Wayne County, no cost to park your car on campus, various scholarship opportunities and options, etc.), has a beautiful campus (very well-kept in all weather conditions), a wide array of dining options, and is not too far outside of downtown Detroit and other beautiful cities like Royal Oak, Birmingham, Ferndale, Farmington Hills, Northville, etc. In my experience, pretty much all of my teachers have been helpful and show that they care about the students. Senior: Kettering is a unique college experience unlike any other. The main selling point, obviously, is its amazing co op program where you get to work in the engineering world as soon as you get here, but Kettering is much more than that. I love Kettering because of the amazing sense of community that it has. Due to its relatively large size everyone knows each other. Everyone is involved on campus in one way or another and always looking for something to do. Being an out of state student, I thought it would be hard to get accustomed to but it was super easy! I even got invited to Thanksgiving dinners by some of my friends when I could not go home for the holidays. The classes are amazing and taught by real PHD level professors and no TA's, which is a huge plus. The classes can be rather challenging at times but the professors are always eager to help and due to our smaller size are available for one on one tutoring, which is perfect. Senior: I transferred last year to CMU and was welcomed by so many outgoing and caring faculty and students. The classes I have taken have helped bolster my future and what I want for my career. I have truly found joy in what I am doing and what I am going to do and I have the CMU CSD and ASL programs, specifically, to thank for that.
