Freshman: I had the pleasure of attending The Art Institute of Atlanta's Open House last month. My visit to Atlanta from Florida was well worth the trip! The relations that I made with other people was very interesting. All of my questions were answered, each instructor was very caring about each individual and that made me want to attend this college even more. Senior: Emmanuel has been great the last 3 years for me! There is a place for everyone here and it is easy to find your people. The faculty are very caring and accommodating. We have mandatory Tuesday chapel for an hour each week. Throughout the semester we have worship nights that are optional. EC has really grown in athletics. The majority of students are athletes. Graduate Student: I attended a private school growing up, so I loved how small Shorter was! If you are looking for a school that’s a small campus where everything is within walking distance then this is a good option! I also loved how your department becomes like your family. I was a music major, so we were all in the same classes and were able to help each other out when needed. The professors want you to succeed and they are willing to help if you ask for it. Shorter is also a Christian college associated with the Baptist Convention so keep that in mind if you have other beliefs or are associated with a different denomination. Sophomore: Has an amazing flight program. The cost of tuition is so much better than what you would expect from a flight program. Financial aid is quick and easy to contact. Freshman: ABAC (Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College) has been a welcoming environment to be at. I suggest new student to stay in the dorm to get an insightful view of the campus. Staying in the dorm helped me gain lifelong friendships. This college has helped me grow internally; the staff are helpful academically. This college has taught me so many things such as the importance of having an education. Coming from a low-income family and as first-generation student, I have an enormous amount of weights over my shoulders, feeling like burden. At times, I get myself overwhelmed financially. It saddens me, but God is with me. Although this school is fabulous, it did not have the major I desire, so I had to transfer to a more expensive college. Not sure, if I took the right step. Freshman: The education is great, and the teachers are very helpful and aim to give you many opportunities, but the cost of tuition is VERY high, not only did I get bare minimum of scholarships they instantly want most students to take loans. Not to mention if your EFC is a little bit higher than tuition they give the bare minimum of scholarships, even though my family makes 1,000 over the school tuition doesn't mean that we pay for the school since most of that money goes to bills and making sure we can survive, not only that they don't give you any work study jobs that pay higher than minimum wage, which is just outrageous, there is no other way to pay for this school unless you have a full ride or you got a lot of scholarships or if you are rich. Sophomore: Atlanta Metropolitan State College is truly a diamond in the rough. The caring staff, professors, deans, and of course the President George Lewis has great expectations for the us. The one on one help you receive when needed is absolutely amazing. During my freshman year I did not know what double space meant when typing and submitting my papers, and my first year experience professor recommended that I visit the writing center, and upon learning what "double space," meant, I was simply amazed. Freshman: I love the small school atmosphere of GGC. I have the opportunity to connect with my professors in ways that some other colleges don’t. For instance, my professors know my handwriting! The small town atmosphere created here at GGC is helpful when learning. I can easily access my teachers knowledge on and off the clock. I also the appreciate the look of the campus. Aside from building A, the campus looks modern and welcoming. I wish that the parking situation would be improved and i believe other students think so as well. The gravel lots are inconvenient. If they could be replaced with asphalt that would be nice. A new parking lot near buildings W, C, and B would be nice for students who aren’t staying in the dorms. Freshman: I really like the culture here: we emphasize both working hard and playing hard. Now, even for an introvert like myself, this is a great place to meet people, but also to hunker down and work. I really feel like my work matters here. Every assignment serves a purpose. I will say for a tech school, our digital infrastructure is laughable. Sure, our research is protected and secure, but not a day goes by that something does not crash. Junior: I am a current student of GSU - Armstrong. Like anywhere you go, you will have positive and negative experiences. Unlike our sister campus in Statesboro, the Armstrong campus has a small community feel to it. It takes a maximum of eight to ten minutes to walk from one end of the campus to another. Even if you do have to take a longer walk to your class, you will be surrounded by the beauty of the botanical gardens that this campus has throughout. Food on this campus includes Chick-Fil-A and Starbucks which is a win in my eyes. There are a few other non-commercial places to eat as well on the campus. Since we are a smaller school, academics are arguably better because you have access to smaller classrooms where the professors are able to reach every student. Senior: My experience at GSW is Excellent! The atmosphere is wonderful and everyone is so friendly. Staff and Professors are easy to locate and talk to when having trouble with an assignment or in class. The students are friendly as well, and everything is so close together.
