Sophomore: I enjoyed getting the hands-on learning experience in the classroom at Thaddeus Stevens. I am studying Graphic Communications and Printing Technology so I spent time designing on the computer and I also got to work on a variety of printing equipment. Our class toured different companies in our field within the industry which exposed us to possible job opportunities in the area. One of our tours was to Grafika Prints and I was so fascinated by the large printing company so I applied for an internship there. I received the summer internship which turned into a job once the school year started. Without the college prioritizing us all touring companies I wouldn't have learned about the great company I work at now. At school, I have also enjoyed participating in events and clubs with my classmates. Sophomore: WCCC is in my opinion a great option. My experience there was an overall solid experience. The majority of the professors I had in my first year were amazing. It is an entirely different feel than high school because they actually care about you. The classrooms are normally only 15-30 people which helps you connect with other students and the teacher more. Furthermore, it is really cheap compared to other places. My yearly tuition cost was no more than 6000. The only bad experience I have from this place is being overwhelmed from working at the same time. So if you do plan on working while taking classes, take a little less classes, trust me it is worth having one extra semester. In conclusion, WCCC is an amazing place to start out with college. It is nice to ease into college while still being with my parents to help me out when needed. It is also great for figuring out what you want to do because of the cheap classes. Sophomore: I’ve been going to CCAC for 3 semesters now to pursue an associates degree in psychology and Education and it’s been great so far! I really feel like the professors at CCAC are here to teach you something and they will help you to get through all of your struggles. The professors I had always have been understanding of any problems that came up and they were very approachable. I’m glad to have chosen this college as an affordable start before transferring to a 4 year institution. CCAC also offers a variety of clubs and activities that’s are fun to explore. Graduate Student: I went to Great Lakes institute of technology and graduated from two different programs! The first program I went through and graduated was for the Medical Assistant program. The program was very educational and set at a good pace to learn the skills needed to be a Medical Assistant. My instructors were super helpful and took their time with each student. I graduated April 2019 and went back July 2019 for the Practical Nursing program! The program was alot more fast paced but a challenge I was willing to accept! during my clinical portion of the nursing program the Covid-19 pandemic hit. The school, staff, and students took on this challenge and we adapted. Many times I wanted to quit but everyone at the school was supportive and we all got through it together. I graduated from the Practical Nursing program September 2020. Graduate Student: Considering how much fun the Savini program is, the amount of time you're there goes by quickly. The instructors really encourage, help and root for your success no matter how new or experienced you are. The only thing to look out for would have to be the housing department affiliated with the school. They aren't the best at handling issues with housing and charge random fees. I would also recommend, if staying in the school's town, that you have a means of transportation. The better shopping center is a town away and there aren't many things to do within the immediate area of where the school is. Otherwise, it was a really pleasant and exciting experience.... Alum: Pittsburgh technical college is a great school to choose to further your career! I attended Pittsburgh Technical College for almost 3 years.
