Alum: My experience at Lakeland was like no other. I graduated from high school in 2020. I was planning on heading to Kent State when COVID came into play. I knew that going to Lakeland was a good decision, I just didn’t know how much it would impact me. Being mostly online for the past 2 years I still enjoyed every moment. One major thing that made my experience at Lakeland was having the chance to graduate with my aunt. During COVID she thought to herself and brought it to us, why not go back to school? Nobody had an answer to why she shouldn’t. So back to school she went. We actually had 2 classes together! One in person, one online. 2 years later, her and I were able to graduate together with our associate of arts degree and this is something that I will cherish forever. I couldn’t have done it without her by my side. She is one of my biggest supporters, my inspiration, and so much more. Sophomore: I went to Columbus State Community College before transferring to Youngstown State and then to Hodges University due to changes in my living situation. Out of all the colleges I've been to I would rate CSCC about second best. The online courses were well managed as well as the in person courses. The campus is small but friendly; the food sucks at the cafeteria but there's lots of nice restaurants and food trucks near by. The on campus gym is pretty decent too! It's a community college so there's not as much of the typical college social aspect/events but for academics its a great and affordable option, especially if you plan on continuing your education else ware.... Sophomore: I have had a pretty great experience at Rhodes. Lots of class option, plenty of space to study on campus and some pretty great staff as well! Even through covid Rhodes has done a good job keeping up. I did not like that so many of their courses have been online for so long still, but it is what it is. Alum: EGCC has been a good college. Most professors have been very responsive, as well as cognizant that while we are students, we are also employees, parents, spouses, etc. They have a lot of different resources to offer to students, and their online platform is straight forward and relatively easy to use. I give 4/5 stars because there are no opportunities to have (that I have found in any of my courses) an instructor actually teach the class. Freshman: Great atmosphere! Lots to do. Rock climbing, pool, basketball, and a really nice gym which is all free for students. there is also a laundry mat in both dorms and is free to use on both sides. If you sign up to work 10.5 hours a week they will take off one thousand dollars off each semester. You can choose on where you want to work and who you want to work with and it works around your schedule. If you have family visiting they can use everything as well for free all you have to do is sign up for the times. They have different events scheduled on the weekends. You can buy a meal card and use it to get your breakfast and lunch and dinner or whatever it is you want or need. The one I got is fourteen meals a week and I also brought snacks with me. In the dorms we have mini fridges with freezers so we can keep some stuff in there.
