Freshman: This was completely new to me being that this was my first time attending college after being out of high school for 110 plus years, so you could imagine the anxiety I had once I decided to finally apply not knowing all that needed to be done. Everyone was very helpful with helping me get started and pointed me into the right direction where I needed to go or what I needed to do next. I was looking for a place where I needed to go and was confused on where to go so one of the employees was kind enough to stop what she was doing just to show me where exactly I needed to go. I really appreciated that! Another employee also helped me out because I was afraid I had missed the deadline to get help with my tuition for the Summer. I could find the link so she emailed it to me to try it and thankful I got the help I needed. If it wasn't for her help I probably wouldn't have been able to start school this Summer as planned. Niche User: I am currently a dual enrollment student at Lamar State College - Port Arthur. Lamar State College - Port Arthur is a very good and local college to go to. It is a small college but everyone is friendly as well as the professors. There are new buildings being made for different courses that people could take. The college has some really good food both during breakfast and lunch. All the professors I have had were all very professional and nice. They understand our situations if we miss an assignment or could not come to class on that day. Overall, Lamar State College - Port Arthur is a very good school to go to. The professors are engaging, the classes have a good amount of students, the activities are festive and everybody enjoys them. The sermons are powerful, and there is appropriate separation between males and females that keeps people from making mistakes and poor decisions. People learn in different ways, and the professors took this to a level I haven't experienced while in high school. People learn in different ways, kinesthetically, orally, visually; but most people don't comprehend things that others do. There was student-professor interaction that allowed each of us to explore our interests, engage in discussion, and pique our interest. That was just the classroom setting! The activities are amazing. School festivals with magnificent decorations and fun activities, trips to the beach, a museum!
