Junior: I have absolutely loved my experience at The Ohio State University for these past two years. I am actually a transfer student and I was a little worried about coming in to a brand new school halfway through my freshman year. However, all of the amazing faculty at Ohio State made it super easy to transition to a new school. I was able to get involved with student organizations from day one of being on campus. I love how many different ways there are to get involved; there truly is something for everyone here. Since it is a larger school, it is a little more dependent on your own self to get involved and take advantage of all the things that are offered. I also love having the city of Columbus to take advantage of! There are so many things to do and it makes it super easy to get off campus. I also love how proud everyone is to be a Buckeye. Freshman: Overall, the University of Cincinnati is a wonderful college. It offers good courses, good dining, options, and the public facilities are great! I especially liked how populated and diverse the campus was. However, if I had to give one thing that made my experience less than optimal, it would be this: there never seemed to be enough. Sophomore: I absolutely love Ohio University! Transferring here changed my life after coming from a college that left me feeling depressed and hopeless. I've made so many friends here and now understand what a true college experience should be like. The classes are excellent, and many of them are smaller despite the large student body. Scheduling can be chaotic, but I have always been able to find the classes I need. While housing can be hit or miss, overall, I enjoy where I live. Athens always has something happening, and there are plenty of clubs to join. Making friends can be a bit challenging, but with a little effort and openness, you can connect with people. Everyone is very friendly, and even though it's a big school, I feel very safe here. The campus is quite walkable, which I appreciate, and the school offers several markets for shopping. Alum: I have absolutely no regrets about going to Miami for my undergraduate studies. Every college is what you make of it, but Miami's dedication to its student's well-being and providing an excellent education is what really makes me sure I made the right choice. Every college will have it's cons, and as a PWI (private white institution) many of those revolve around it's racial population. However, I do think because of this, the BIPOC communities at Miami are all the stronger for it. Like many colleges and universities, they will sugarcoat certain things or make certain situations out to be like no big deal so if you want change or see something you don't agree with, call it out, it's very unlikely that you'll be alone in your thoughts and if there's anything Redhawks know how to do, its organize a protest. Freshman: The atmosphere at Marietta College is like no other. I love the small-town feel and the beautiful campus. There is so much to do around campus, as well as downtown Marietta, including coffee shops, boutiques, and antique stores. Alum: I came to the University of Akron from Pittsburgh, PA to participate as a member of their Division 1 women's soccer team. Coming to a city where I really knew nothing about, the university made me feel so welcomed and did everything they could to learn the city around me and feel safe and comfortable being away from home. I studied Biomedical Engineering and the program was incredible. The professors were so kind and wanted you to succeed and always offered help. The campus itself made you feel so safe and it offered so many things. The rec center is incredible and the student union is so clean and very spacious. There are great places indoor and outdoor to study around campus as well! The only change I would have liked to see is not having to pay so much for a guest at the rec center. Other: While I have not yet begun my actual college years yet, I have been a full time CCP student at OUZ for the past two years! Thus far I have enjoyed everything OU has to offer, from the huge library, to the various amazing teachers, flexible schedules, and great location. I have loved it all. Anytime I walk into the building I am greeted by any passing teachers or a kind student in passing. The community surrounding the campus really warms your heart. It always makes me feel safe anytime I enter the building. I can't wait to begin my real college years at the campus! Freshman: Walking down the hallways feels empowering; professors with open doors offering a helping hand to all and many quiet places to study and work towards your dream. Ohio University-Lancaster offers just about anything a student could hope for. No, it is not huge and no it does not have a division one sports program, but it is the perfect place for a student to find their calling. The school offers many intricate courses with professors who take their time to provide the best education to their students. It is hard to find any course unenjoyable. Not to mention, the student advisors offer immaculate help to make sure you're on track.
