Freshman: I’m a dance major at NYU tisch and although this school is very expensive I’ve been loving the experience I’ve had so far. I can’t speak for other majors but being in the dance department it’s very easy to build community and make friends that will definitely last a life time. I will say one of the major flaws I have noticed with nyu (besides the tuition lol) is communication specifically within the financial department. As someone who genuinely cannot afford this school and is going to be in thousands of dollars in debt, I’ve been trying to reach out and appeal my financial aid in hopes to get more but they never answer any of my questions or respond to previous appeals I have sent. Also the campus is very spread out lol. Other than that, living here in NYC and going to my dream school has been nothing but surreal! Junior: I love that it’s such a big school! It’s hard to imagine not having such a large and beautiful campus to walk around during the day and all the space also allows for there to always be something going on. There are so many events and clubs and large Greek life. There’s also several Divine9 sororities and fraternities and multicultural Greek life as well. Even if Greek life isn’t for you, there are many clubs that make you feel like family. Education is so important and valued here. There’s also many networking opportunities and again, just so many helpful events and because it is a big school, they’re always prepared for many people to attend so it’s less of an overwhelming experience. The renovated dorms are very nice and since it’s a college town, there’s a lot of nice off campus living options. Junior: Love the campus! The coursework is rigorous no matter your major, but there's tons of classes that are so niche and interesting to explore! This school will give you a challenge for sure! Having to apply to your major is a huge downside-- there's a decent chance you might not get to study what you want if the major is competitive and your GPA and statements aren't competitive enough (there's just too many students). Similarly, you can't take major classes until you get accepted into the major (which usually isn't until your junior year), so that can delay the graduation process if you don't schedule and plan your degree right. Because of the large student body, everyone is clawing for everything-- registration for classes is a nightmare, long lines at dining halls and events, etc. (you can expect to sometimes wait more than an hour for food, applying to housing/registration takes hours as well because the server is being filled with so many students).... Senior: TCU has an incredibly inclusive and supportive community. The professors genuinely care about their students and want their students to succeed. Many have their PhD, with years of real-world industry experience. They are great resources as mentors both in an outside the classroom. The school spirit of TCU is unlike any other school. Students are incredibly proud to be horned frogs and hold lots of school pride. This year, students have been calling TCU an "everything school" because of our success in academics and across all sports. TCU has a great campus, with state-of-the-art buildings and facilities. The dorms are well-equipped and updated, and the recreation center is a great facility. Sophomore: Since enrolling at the University of Central Florida there have been many ups and downs. Some things I really enjoyed about the campus was just its mass size. Not only in square miles but also in student population UCF is one of the biggest universities in the United States. With UCF having over 68,000 students it is very easy to network with peers. With that being said, having so many students does make it difficult for UCF to provide all the services students may need in a timely manner. For example, during registration period advisors are very limited and could be scheduled out for 3 weeks. I wish that during busy period that more staff were available to help students in need. UCF does offer walk-in advising which I believe was a great way to combat that issue. Senior: Absolutely amazing experience at UD. I passed up so many 'higher' ranking schools to go here, and I am so happy I did. In engineering, both academically and professionally I have been able to push myself as far as any other school in the country—and am now working with numerous people from top notch & Ivy League schools. UD led to 5 fantastic internships with Fortune 500s, international non-profits, and cutting edge research groups. Alum: Rhode Island School of Design is a prestigious art school worldwide, and therefore it creates a community of cutting-edge student body and faculty. The friends and network I've met at RISD are life-long and will continue to be a source of inspiration and collaboration in the future. All the departments in the school are extremely challenging and require refined conceptual and critical thinking as well as technical skill. Junior: I have been at Foothill for almost three years now and throughout these past years I feel like I am very satisfied with my education here. Sophomore: Andrews University is exclusively known for diversity and inclusion. One of the best things about Andrews is the incredible community it has. You get to build incredible relationships with people from different backgrounds and learn so much about other cultures. The University would often create social programs to try to engage social interactions between different communities within the school. As an international student, my first year was pretty tough considering I was living in a community far from home. Junior: The school is very diverse and has lots of great resources they provide for their students. It’s massive and they’re always constantly building something new. The only downfall would be the prices of the apartments on campus but living in a city as big as houston you’re able to comfortably live off campus and commute to school. The dining halls have great food, we also have a larger cafeteria and student centers all around campus. Depending on what program you are attending on the campus they all have their own special perks. I attend the Bauer College of Business and the classrooms are not old by any means, everything feels new, and the bathrooms are always clean. We have a large recreation center with lots of different machines to use if you’re into fitness. Also if you like to study outdoors rather than indoors, we have so many shaded areas around trees and even a small fountain nearby the Cullen building. Most students love to do their studying there! Plenty of ADHD and special needs accommodations but services are hard to waitlist/access and the staff isn’t always helpful. Most professors are nice but the quality of education isn’t challenging with well thought out organized lectures to cohesively teach. Dining hall is better compared to most schools but expensive per meal. The students at the school are pretty odd but a good diverse student population. Freshman: I would say like most of life, rit is what you make of it. I attend COS for Biotech and I am so happy with how much research and lab work I’ve done just being here less than a year. If u stay in your dorm and are pretty closed off/scared to put yourself out there yes you will suffer socially. However parties are generally very fun here especially for “non-social” school. So many paid opportunities over the summer and if you are enthusiastic you can get almost anything! Im confident I’ll be getting a co-op and job: attend career fairs!
