Sophomore: I absolutely love NYU. I study at the College of Arts and Sciences as a student on track for pre-med and I absolutely love the diversity and resources available to me. Everything about the campus is perfect. I wasn't one to really care about having the "traditional college experience" from sports, to having an actual solidified area for the campus, so NYU was absolutely perfect for me. I feel as if I am just living in the city and taking classes, and everyone here is so friendly and motivating. This is an amazing environment if you want to work hard and succeed academically and career-wise, and occasionally indulge in a little bit of fun in the social scene. The dorms are so great, I was in Lipton Hall my first year and it is honestly so nice, bright, cozy, and clean. There is a food hall as a part of my dorm that offers so many different selections (and also caters to your dietary needs like vegan food). I love NYU so much and you should definitely apply here!

Alum: I often refer to my decision to attend this school as the best decision I've ever made in my life, and that holds true to this day. The student experience here is not necessarily an 'easy' one. The winters are brutal, classes can be challenging, and the size of the school can make it hard to find your crowd at times. However, put serious effort in to your social and academic life here, and the school will reward you tremendously. The campus is in my opinion the most underrated campus aesthetically in the country and it is filled with people from all walks of life. At the underclassmen levels, classes can be large and uninteresting, but as you move into junior and senior years, the education is excellent and professors are very approachable. Truly a special place. Go orange!

My professors were well qualified, most of them studied at ivy league schools, and were providing their academic knowledge to students at Baruch for half the cost. The student body was extremely diverse too, all of my classes were made up of domestic and international students. The amazing network of professors and students allowed me to connect with companies that I've always dreamed about. The affordable tuition is just the icing on the top!

Junior: It's a good university, but the classes are not easy As, especially if you are a STEM major. As a biology and psychology double major, I tend to struggle in certain classes. They can feel impossible, but I'm sure if you put your maximum effort you will probably end up being very prepared for graduate school. Do NOT underestimate the courses offered here. In addition, self studying may be required because some professors are only focused on their research. But because there is research, there are opportunities to get involved! For the price, you are getting a phenomenal education where you will leave more knowledgeable than you came here. The Greek life isn't typical, which is kind of a good thing, because joining Greek life here means you'll increase your social circle as well as increase your grades. The food is average, but for a school this size, it makes sense.

Freshman: Marist is awesome! There is countless opportunities to get involved! It is located near multiple major cities so you get great internship opportunities. New York City, Boston, and Philadelphia are not far. It is safe and secure campus. There is plenty of close by restaurants. I joined CenterField the Marist sports newspaper which has been great. Freshman can get in and get right started. I joined the Marist College Television too! Freshman can get write on air there and articles can be written for the sports newspaper right away. Across the street there is a Home Depot, Ocean State Job Lot, Giacomos, Salsa Fresca, Starbucks, McDonalds, and Applebee’s. There is also two Starbucks on campus. There’s is many many eating options on campus. Multiple dinning halls, multiple food spots. There’s a ton of lounges and quiet work areas on campus too. Overall, Marist has a little bit of everything. The river is close by and you can go and relax by the river. There is a Marist college access

Sophomore: This school wasn't my first choice, but I am growing to love it more and more. I love the smaller class sizes because it allows for a more intimate connection between professor and student, which I think is extremely important in the educational process. Professors there care about their students and want to see them succeed, along with having a wide breadth of knowledge in the subjects they teach. Student life is great as well, with campus-wide activities constantly being advertised--there's never a dull moment there! The school is also becoming very committed to Sustainability, which is extremely important in this day and age.

Alum: Lehman had many amazing professors overall, and a variety of courses for any of your education needs and prospective career fields. What stood out most was the overall campus experience, even down to the old architecture in the buildings mixed with the newer contemporary buildings. The Lehman campus itself gave authenticity to a college campus that you don't always get from a commuter school! The classes were always exciting and I learned a lot in the field of Journalism and theatre. Lastly if I had a chance to do my undergrad all over again I most definitely would!

Freshman: Great school and campus! The professors are welcoming and informative. Campus life style is relaxing, friendly and competitive as the same time. Student housing for freshman is fantastic. We are living in quad rooms with private bathroom. Albany is a big and diverse school but it is a perfect opportunity to meet and greet other students. Security seems to be a very important aspect and noticeable component on campus. I feel safe and comfortable in my new environment.

Sophomore: The food options at Hofstra is amazing! You can tell they care about your allergies and health with the options they provide. They recently updated the student center with a larger Starbucks for students to sit down at. It is very well kept up in appearance, you'll always see someone cleaning, the grass, and trees being taken care of. Hofstra cares about the environment, they removed straws (you have to ask for one by staff if needed), they have recycled bins for plastic/glass/ and regular trash. The professors care about students, with constant reminders of extra help, keeping up with online classes during Corona. The libraries are vast with many places for study ranging from computer-oriented places to study, quiet studying, study rooms on different levels, a mini cafe, and floors for tutoring. You can tell Hofstra cares about students and staff.

Alum: SUNY Oneonta gave me the best 4 years of my life. I made lifelong friends, danced with my best friends on the Terpsichorean Dance Company, was given the opportunity to choreograph, took amazing classes that helped better me as a future educator, met the love of my life, and was given multiple independent study opportunities. I helped create an after school math program with a professor and helped conduct research and transcribe materials on past student teaching records from the early 1900s into an Excel Spreadsheet. All of the professors and staff were so kind. I really enjoyed living on campus all 4 years. The RAs and other resident hall staff were able to create a warm, friendly, and fun environment to live in. I always enjoyed going to their socials and programs. I also go to tutor mathematics on campus in the Student Learning Center and was able to teach yoga classes with my best friend through the Intramurals Department. I miss SUNY Oneonta!

Senior: My overall experience at Brooklyn College has been mostly positive and largely enjoyable. This school boasts a variety of amenities such as a career center, a computer lab, a tutoring center, 3 story library, a well-designed gym, and many more locations.
There is diversity among students and professors which is always a plus for someone like myself: a person of color. Compared to other private and state colleges, I find myself a lot more comfortable in my environment.
Classes are mostly interactive and engaging and professors are usually understanding of most situations that may hinder or deter one's ability to learn at their best ability.
Some students complain about the interior infrastructure which truthfully does require a lot of much-needed repairs but it is the least of my concern. Tuition is cheaper than most other schools and lacks a sufficient amount of funding from state and local governments which is why infrastructure issues are the least of my concerns.

Freshman: Really affordable and welcoming environment from the students. The honors program is not necessary as you can still graduate with honors without being in the program, only plus is the free credit which helps with saving money but it's already super affordable. I like the campus, but dorms are off campus, you can use the provided shuttle or take the train to go back. The dorms are in a good place in comparison to NY but stupid in terms of school vicinity. School food is alright, the lunchroom is small and the whole campus is just made of old homes. It's good enough but no one knows about this school. Plus there are security guards rather than access cards, so you could fake it and they'll let you in...

Junior: I absolutely love Queens College. Queens College is like my second home because I feel so accepted there. Queens College has a diverse campus which makes me feel more comfortable and happy. Since I'm majoring in Psychology and Human Development, this has broadened my horizons of continuing my education to a Master's Degree. I'm very passionate with my majors and I'm very content with the classes I'm taking. I'm actually graduating a semester earlier than expected but hey, hard work pays off! Even though as of right now I'm doing online schooling, I feel so confident in what I'm doing and all of my professors are so down to earth and reasonable due to the Pandemic. I would highly recommend for anyone to apply to Queens College because it's an amazing school and you'll fit in just perfectly!

Senior: The City College of New York is an amazing college! For a school to offer an amazing education as well as having a low tuition rate, is kind of unbelievable in this day and age. There are multiple professors who invest their life into teaching their courses. They enjoy and make sure that students understand as well. There are multiple advisors within the school, that offer consultations whenever you need them. They offer advice that could be beneficial for you and understand all situations that you might overcome. They are never judgemental. Although there are certain professors and advisors that are strict, there are still other ways to get help. There are many tutoring programs and TA's that will guide you in whatever you are learning. The campus is one of the most beautiful CUNY campuses. The architecture is amazing. It is placed in a very diverse neighborhood, and there are many places to eat different types of foods. There are amazing shows to express talent. It's a great school!

Sophomore: Niagara University has overall been an amazing choice for me. As soon as I had gotten there I was welcomed with open arms which made it feel like home. I didn't have any problems making friends because of the amount of activities that there are to choose from as soon as you step on campus. I have made the best of friends and I have only been there for about two years. Out of all of the schools that I have been to, Niagara has just struck me as the most friendly, beautiful, welcoming schools that I could even imagine myself going to. Some of the programs they offer are time management and learning skills programs that everyone can benefit from.

Sophomore: Personally, I love it at Geneseo. I like the small-town feel, the campus is beautiful, and I've enjoyed most of the classes that I've taken so far. There are challenging ones and easy ones, like you're going to get anywhere. I like nearly all of my professors. The two dorms I have lived in have been fine, your average college dorms. In my opinion, the food is pretty good, better than other colleges I think (but I do know that some vegans/vegetarians have issues finding good options). Overall, I can't wait for the next 2 years here!

Alum: Hi! Here are some bullet points about the school, based on popular topics for students when I would give tours at the Writing Center:

- Residence life is good and the food is not bad! The roommate pairing wizard is great for freshmen - loved mine.
- Academics are so-so. I was a philosophy major, which was a fairly good program (3.5/5 for me), but I took many electives. The film classes were great, as were the music classes. Language programs (Italian) were a bit lackluster - very slow pace.
- There are a fair number of house parties (since everyone asks!) and bars in the city are a bit far for a Friday night, but worth the trip. I personally loved going to live comedy shows.

Overall, I'm fairly happy with my experience. The immediate area, Queens, is not especially interesting, but Manhattan is about an hour away, which is wonderful. I threw myself into the opportunities that came my way and ended up really enjoying the school by junior and senior year. Good luck with your search!

Sophomore: As a second year student. Plattsburgh has done wonders for my education. The Expeditionary Studies Program is one of the nations best outdoor programs run by some of the world's most qualified people. On top of that, I have added two majors and a minor onto my degree and faculty members are there to help me succeed. For those who enjoy outdoor recreation, SUNY Plattsburgh is a great place to go to because of it's proximity to the Adirondack Mountain Range and the Green Mountains. Plattsburgh is also on Lake Champlain, and only a hour from Montreal. I've heard from city folk that Plattsburgh "has nothing to do" but it does offer great pastimes, they just need to be for you! The last year of my life has been one of the greatest (minus COVID) because of Plattsburgh and how they have given me opportunities that I never thought I'd have whether it be sea kayaking off of the coast of Maine or 800 ft up a cliff.

Alum: Potsdam was such an amazing place! The campus is full of diversity and talent. Their arts department, especially the Crane School of Music, is out of this world. You can find some sort of performance nearly every weekend between classes, clubs, and the theatre/dance department. All of the programs that Potsdam has to offer are great programs with amazing faculty and advisors that truly care about the students. There are a ton of different clubs that you can join as well as Greek Life opportunities. There is also a local agency called Reachout that students have the opportunity to train with and subsequently volunteer at. Reachout is a Crisis Hotline for St. Lawrence county. I volunteered with Reachout and loved every minute f it. The food is great, the people re really, nice, and the campus is beautiful. It's also not too far from Lake Placid, the Adirondacks, and the US/Canada border; so, finding something to do isn't a challenge. I loved my time at Potsdam and truly miss it.

Graduate Student: My favorite part about going to Grove City was getting to learn from the professors. Almost every professor is passionate, clear, gracious and its clear they care for the students. As for dorm life, it did not feel like the women's halls had much community, in general. That might be different on the sorority halls. But the dorms feel very safe and I appreciated that there were only limited visiting hours for the opposite gender. The food is great and it's easy to eat lots of nutritious meals! Both cafeterias have salad bars and usually have some sort of meat, soup, and a dessert section. I appreciated all their work. Grove City is a very small town, and you can start to feel a bit stranded, especially if you have no car. The academics are rigorous, but with a balance of major related classes, electives, and extracurriculars its definitely doable. The sun doesn't shine often in that part of the country, so it can get to feel a bit gloomy in the winter, but spring does come eventually.

The sense of community is there and thanks to the small class sizes, it is easy to find your "people" and build great relationships with the professors to tap into their network. They have great advisors and admissions team that will happily help you out.
