Freshman: I am currently taking the EMS program along with a forensic science class through FVTC, and I enjoy it very much! While my classes are at the Public Safety Training Center, I am frequently on the main Appleton campus, and it is an amazing place. The culture and friendliness from the staff and students is welcoming and they will go out of their way to help you. The food on campus is pretty nice as well. They do something neat at the main campus for lunches, where the culinary students prepare meals for the students. As for the public safety building, it's also very nice and honestly, I feel everyone there is even nicer because you all have a common theme in your degree programs. The instructors are amazing, very funny and helpful, and have great teaching styles. The town behind the building also helps you to experience real life situations without being in the real world. Freshman: Studying at NWTC is different from a traditional university. Most of the courses I am enrolled in are directly related to my future career field. NWTC is very concise in their educational practices and opportunities. There has not been a time yet where I had to ask myself, "how will I use this in my future career?" The professors are very accommodating, and it is evident that they want to see their students be successful, but not without putting in the proper time and effort. I have been at NWTC for one semester, and I can already see a slight issue in communication. When trying to communicate or get specifical information from anyone other than my professors, the response time is quite extended which can leave me feeling confused or frustrated.... Alum: I graduated from GTC in 2010 with my associate's degree. The advisors when going in to finish my pre-reqs did not properly put me in appropriate classes based on my ACT scores so I had to test out on some once I realized I was placed wrong and lost out on that money as it was too late for a full refund at that point even though it was their error. I did not appreciate the closed mindedness of one of the psych instructors and did fail their class as our personalities did not work out and he clearly did not appreciate my input. Once in my program though, my teachers were FANTASTIC! The smaller classes made it easy for the instructors to pay attention to all students and be able to dedicate time to ensure all understood or got extra attention if needed when struggling. Alum: I LOVED UW Oshkosh. From the size of campus to the school’s size to its incredibly affordable price, UWO is a fantastic choice for a college experience. The staff and professors were incredibly supportive and helpful. I worked on campus for 3.5 years, and it helped me advance my skills socially, academically, and professionally. The student amenities (rec center, Horizon Village, student support center, LGBTQ+ center, alumni welcome center) were incredible too. I was inspired constantly to thrive here. Also, there were an incredible amount of scholarships available, especially for out of state students. The only thing I would change is a more expansive College of Education building since it’s an incredibly large major and program like business and nursing.
