Sophomore: I love this college! Not only is the faculty really interested in developing intellectual engagement, I have been pleasantly surprised by the incredible theater scene here. I came to Kenyon from a well-known arts school with a major in drama, and I was concerned I would not find a high level of drama instruction. That has not been the case. Other: I attended Owens for 4 semesters as a CCP student and really enjoyed my time there. I gathered 34 college credit hours before graduating high school and will be transferring them to a 4 year public university this fall. 26 of these credits were taken online and 8 were in person. The professors really cared and offered support, encouragement, and advice whenever they could. I loved all of my professors and met some really cool classmates. I highly recommend Cory Hoover for English courses and L. Scott Deaner for Human Geography as a general elective course. They were my favorite professors and I took 2 classes with each of them because the content was so interesting. I learned a lot during my time at Owens and met some great friends. It is definitely a different experience from public universities and there aren't a lot of student activities compared with bigger schools since the student body on campus is relatively small. Alum: YSU was an amazing university. The availability of classes, especially in a smaller major, made completing the degree on time very easy. The campus was clean and felt safe despite being located in a city with some unfavorable statistics. The professors were top notch, intellectual, challenging and welcoming. The Maag Library is the perfect location for a long study session (loved that as a commuter). As a single mom, working a full time job, I was still able to be a full time student at YSU. After many, many years away from school, I decided to return for a bachelor's degree. I reached out to an advisor who was extremely helpful. She worked with me to make sure that all of my prior credit hours were applied to my new degree, and worked with me to create a school schedule that would accommodate my full time work schedule. She has been instrumental each semester to ensure that I stay on track to meet my graduation goals! Taking online classes has been much easier than one would expect. Freshman: My overall experience at CCAD was a wonderful experience. Starting with the classes. The class sizes were small so u got alot of one on one experience and the proper attention when needed. I also liked the fact that every class was based around some sort of art, whether it be math, history science. All of them where art related. I also liked the size of the college and how convenient all my classes were. Everything was within one city block. Dorms, cafeteria, parking, and safety office was all so close. There was really no need to leave campus, but if you did the school is based in the heart of columbus ohio. there was even a art supply store on campus if you needed something without leaving.... Junior: I initially chose the CIA because I had grown up knowing about it and the accomplishments of its students, as my father’s employer had close connections to school alumni. I became further interested in CIA and art/design-based career paths while in my freshman year of high school. Later on, I would participate in the CIA Pre-College Program which cemented my love for the school as well as the surrounding community which includes small businesses, novelty shops, and some of the best restaurants in Cleveland!
