Sophomore: The Fashion Institute of technology is very welcoming and vibrant. The campus has a palpable creative energy. So far, my journey at FIT has been an incredibly transformative one. This institution has propelled me towards personal and professional growth. The professors at FIT are not only teaching you in classes but they bring in real-world knowledge into the class. They encourage you to think creatively and critically. Since I am an international student, I believe that the campus has a rich and diverse community of students. Interacting with the students from various cultures and backgrounds and helped me broaden my perspectives. FIT offers various opportunities to develop professionally. Alum: There are so many opportunities for growth, wonderful and knowledgeable professors, a great sense of community, and exceptional facilities and resources. The Science Tutorial was my best resource for improving my grades. All profs offered office hrs and ensured their students do well. WCC offers refunds on dropped classes before a certain date. Take advantage if the class or professor doesn’t align with them. Take time to read testimonials of your professors before signing up for their class. I am still in contact with many of my professors and they have given me support and encouragement through my current career. It’s a great feeling to know they still want to see you succeed even after you leave the classroom. Diversity on campus is lively! WCC is a large commuter school including HS grads, transfers, and grad students. Pool offered open swim hrs which were fun to go to in between classes. Student life is what you make of it. Alum: I genuinely enjoyed my time at The New School; despite the fact that the entirety of my time as a student there was affected by the global pandemic (I was a student from 2020-2023), I feel that I learned so much from my professors and peers, and I was still able to connect with likeminded people who have become dear friends. I felt there was a great environment at TNS for me as a student, where both my creative and academic work was fully supported. I can't say enough positive things about the professors-- I felt that all of the professors I had during my time at TNS genuinely cared about their students and their students' success. However, in the Fall of 2022, we experienced a historic faculty strike as the university's administration refused to pay fair wages/healthcare to their part-time faculty, who teach the majority of courses at TNS. Senior: Marist College gave me an amazing education. I was able to get heavily involved on campus through clubs and activities while also managing my school work and being a D1 athlete. In addition, I was an RA on campus. The professors at Marist care deeply about students and want them to take away a variety of important skills in class and life. Like most colleges, freshman-year housing and food aren't the best, but it gets better as you get older. Freshman: Overall I like GCC, the campus is nice and there are a lot of elevators for getting around. There's flexibility in courses, with many offered online, and a lot of assistance available for answering questions. Senior: I visited New York one day & fell in love. I quickly began getting fueled for the idea to go back to school. Alum: I had a really good first semester at Nassau Community College but unfortunately, I didn't get to experience my full year at Nassau Community College as the pandemic had hit and everything was shifted to online. Most of my professors that I had were very accommodating and patient to the transition. My only complaint would be that the advisors can sometimes be rude and not in the slightest bit helpful. I have one advisor that help me with a specific issue and basically told me to go to her for any help that I needed but then turned her back on me after I came to her in regards to another issue that had to do with my financial aid. Junior: LIU Post is a great school with a gorgeous campus. They did an especially great job in keeping all students and faculty safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and that really made me feel good to be a student there. Professors are all qualified and know their stuff, too. There is never a dull moment and they do a great job at creating a comfortable social setting as well. Only thing I would change is the faculty that works in the Promise Office. They are not always the most helpful and tend to make students feel like they need to fend for themselves in order to do things for themselves like building a schedule. Freshman: Berkeley College is located in Midtown, in the center of Manhattan, about a 5-minute walk from Grand Central Station. It is very convenient for transportation. Near the school, there is also a famous park, Bryant Park where many students can spend their class breaks with friends. The school is very cleaned and the classrooms, library and computer room are very comfortable. It is also attractive that I can graduate earlier than other universities with a flexible schedule and a system of three semesters. Especially, staffs of the international student office are all kind to students. They help us anytime and sometimes invite us to some events the college or other organizations held. Junior: Marymount is a great college to go to if you're looking for a city school experience and want to major in anything in the theatre field. Marymount is such a great place to learn how to be independent and network with all these amazing artists around you. The student body is pretty diverse and most professors are pretty progressive.
