Sophomore: Support for students is always available as long as they look for it. There are always opportunities for students to be active on campus, especially by joining clubs and holding officer positions. I like how supportive the environment is. Fellow students are pretty supportive of each other, most professors are approachable and always happy to help, tutors are available both in the Learning Center and STEM Center, and even the Deans, Vice Presidents, and (Acting) President are always happy to talk to students and even know some by name. Scholarships are also available and well-promoted each year. Sparkpoint Center also provides students with free groceries and housing support. Health and Wellness Center provides professional and mostly free physical and mental health support. They always ensure that students pay as little as possible for their treatments.... Freshman: As a First Year at FIDM, it is literally everything a fashion opportunist could look for in a school! Freshman: Overall I want to say that I am very impressed with this school! I feel like I fit in with the other students where creating art is concerned! However, I am a little disappointed in the way this school treats transgender students. My best friend is transgender and she has deal with being dead named constantly by her professors. She has tried to correct them a countless amount of time for this, but to no avail. She said that only her French teacher used her correct pronouns and name, which is saying a lot since she has been in this school for over a year and the majority of her teachers misgender her. Personally, I would like there to be a little more understanding and respect towards LGBTQA+ students. Other: I have not attended any classes yet at Academy of Art University Online, but my experience with applying has been phenomenal. My advisor checks in almost every week to make sure that I am doing well and that I am accomplishing various steps toward attending classes. Everyone I have talked to has been amazingly kind and helpful. They have made the application process easy and I know there are many people to help me during classes if needed.
