Freshman: The professors are great and gives you time to learn about what you want to major in! I enjoyed how much my success coach wanted to help me and how much they cared for their student's success. I learned so much at Lincoln Land and saved so much money in the long run which has helped me out tremendously. I was nervous about going there because all of my other friends had found their footing at 4-year universities, but it gave me the chance to do things at my pace and have the opportunity to take it slow. I would recommend Lincoln Land to anyone who wants to further their education, but wants to do it at the pace that suits you. The professors really do care a lot about you and try their best to help you learn, even the hardest of concepts. The student life likes to put on activities to make it feel more like college. Senior: I like that the professors engage the whole class to participate and make sure the students aren't awkward and not talking to each other. I previously went to UIC and when we did group work we would not talk to each other and the professors would not do anything. At Dominican University they allow you to grow and expand your wings! What I would like to see change is allowing scholarships for European immigrant families, I come from a European family and it is a struggle to afford such expensive tuition. Especially when you are taking 22 credit hours and are 4 credit hours at an overload which is 5 thousand dollars extra and they give you no help. Sophomore: I love the diversity, acceptance and creativity found everywhere at Columbia! My innovative major-Contemporary, Jazz and Popular-music allows me to combine jazz studies, performance, production and composition while playing in a wide range of showcase ensembles and independent bands. My instructors all work in their fields and provide hands-on opportunities. As a freshman I was able to work in the field -- rearranging new music for a musical theater project with a composer out of LA-- and get paid due to an internship with a professor. We have wonderful guest artists and composers on campus for workshops and more every semester.A lot of amazing opportunities exist if you are open to them due to the thriving city of Chicago and strong connections/programs in LA. It is a school for artists and creatives from around the world that deserves better rankings on Niche, rankings more in keeping with the kudos it gets from Hollywood Reporter for its music and film programs!...
