Junior: Southern Nazarene University is a small campus that puts community, commitment, and Christ at the center of its values. No matter a student's athletic status, academic goals, or level of involvement on campus, authoritative figures intentionally pursue each one with the intent of getting them connected with other staff and peers around campus. Professors know each student by name and set aside office time to ensure they are on the track to success. Placing Christ at the center of the school's being allows students to belong to something greater than themselves. It gives students something to believe in, and creates a culture of love for all who'd like to be part of it. I love that the staff and students I have grown to know now feel like my family away from home. Sophomore: I really appreciate the community involvement and loving atmosphere that is found throughout Oklahoma Christian. The professors might be strict but they are providing adversities that will be faced after college and I respect them more because of that. The food at OC could improve by supplying more variation and allowing the Eagle Bucks to be used at more places; such as Subway, McDonald's, Starbucks...and the list goes on. Alum: My experience at OBU was fantastic! It takes time and effort, but you can find a good, supportive group of people there. The students also come with a variety of backgrounds and unique interests. I liked that I could walk to all of my classes. The teachers I had were supportive and personal. The gym had everything you would need. There were plenty of activities to get involved in as well. The environment was very relaxed. My only critique would be the food. Over time (perhaps new management) grilled chicken and other items like it seemed to become more rare or took more effort to get. The food quality didn’t seem quite as good as it used to be and the veal and other good dishes were only available when they had a day where potential future students were visiting.
