Freshman: The student life here is amazing, and it's clear the university wants its students to feel comfortable on campus. TA's and professors have been mostly receptive to emails and eager to help out when needed. The location and surrounding resources are valuable and easy to take advantage of as a student. I wish professors were better equipped to use canvas or some other teaching website. Also, there should be a standardized attendance app or website that is used by all teachers rather than having to download two or three separate applications in a semester depending on which professors you have. Freshman: I am currently taking the EMS program along with a forensic science class through FVTC, and I enjoy it very much! While my classes are at the Public Safety Training Center, I am frequently on the main Appleton campus, and it is an amazing place. The culture and friendliness from the staff and students is welcoming and they will go out of their way to help you. The food on campus is pretty nice as well. They do something neat at the main campus for lunches, where the culinary students prepare meals for the students. As for the public safety building, it's also very nice and honestly, I feel everyone there is even nicer because you all have a common theme in your degree programs. The instructors are amazing, very funny and helpful, and have great teaching styles. The town behind the building also helps you to experience real life situations without being in the real world. Freshman: Studying at NWTC is different from a traditional university. Most of the courses I am enrolled in are directly related to my future career field. NWTC is very concise in their educational practices and opportunities. There has not been a time yet where I had to ask myself, "how will I use this in my future career?" The professors are very accommodating, and it is evident that they want to see their students be successful, but not without putting in the proper time and effort. I have been at NWTC for one semester, and I can already see a slight issue in communication. When trying to communicate or get specifical information from anyone other than my professors, the response time is quite extended which can leave me feeling confused or frustrated.... Freshman: I study both Graphic Design and Digital Media Production at Western Tech, and I am having a good time so far. The classes are very comprehensive, and focus on developing your technical practices, skills, and career readiness. There is plenty of support options for anybody struggling in just about any way. They have tutors, learning commons, food resources, clothing resources, counseling, disability resources, etc. Western Technical College really cares about its students. Perhaps my favorite thing about this school is that, with it being a technical college, all of the professors are required to have practiced, or currently be practicing in, the field of which they teach, and they have to take steps to keep up with the fields too, so that they are always teaching the most relevant information with first hand experience of what knowledge and skills are needed in the field. Freshman: I love it, it is an amazing college and they are the best at answering any questions you have or anything you need help with. It is amazing with the online experience and classes it's so easy to access your student account and makes it a lot easier when your busy with home life work and school of course. Senior: I have enjoyed attending Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin via online course education. The option to complete my courses online was an extraordinary opportunity which made it possible for me to follow through with furthering my education. My Professors were amazing! Although my courses were all online my Professors were all readily available, responded quickly to any questions I had arise & were extremely helpful as well as understanding & encouraging. While some may students may have the misconception that online classes are difficult & that this avenue of learning leaves you isolated with Professors who are disconnected, unreachable & uncaring... Junior: I have a few credits to finish up for my associate degree. So far my experiences have been very positive. The Registered Nurse Program at MATC has been what I expected. I’m sure that the networking courses get into more intense material, but networking isn’t my favorite thing. The Support program does make me want to continue my education in nursing. I think that’s a positive. When I started back at MATC, it was difficult because I’d been out of school for something like 13 years. I didn’t know exactly what to expect or how I would adapt to classes again. I can’t think of anything that would have helped me first. It was definitely time to get back in school and it has worked out well. The only change I would make to the MATC program would be scheduling, There were plenty of courses that I wanted to take in class rather than online but the scheduling wasn’t available. Senior: As a commuter biomed student who never really got into the social scene at parkside, I can’t complain much. I started online which wasn’t bad overall. My first year psych teacher was subpar and I had to drop biology because the teacher was non accommodating. Throughout my 3 years, about 90% of my teachers put noticeable effort into assuring they accommodated your schedule and spent time outside of class answering questions. Some were tough graders, but others made up for it for being excellent teachers with great personalities, engaging with students one-on-one, and frequently asked the class for feedback to improve their course/teaching style. As for the food, it’s okay. I usually stay on campus for 8 hours on my busy days. I’m gluten sensitive and they have a few options I can have a day as well as a Starbucks. The dinners are good. Alum: I LOVED UW Oshkosh. From the size of campus to the school’s size to its incredibly affordable price, UWO is a fantastic choice for a college experience. The staff and professors were incredibly supportive and helpful. I worked on campus for 3.5 years, and it helped me advance my skills socially, academically, and professionally. The student amenities (rec center, Horizon Village, student support center, LGBTQ+ center, alumni welcome center) were incredible too. I was inspired constantly to thrive here. Also, there were an incredible amount of scholarships available, especially for out of state students. Freshman: I love Green Bay! The campus is tucked away, surrounded by green space, so you can hear the woods instead of busy city life.
