Alum: USD has an amazing science and political science program. The professors truly love what they are doing. There are such opportunities that create a safe space for anyone to be apart of. This university truly cares about their students. The advisors just want you to have fun and get a degree, but they don't focus solely on what you need. Learning from my sisters, I was able to graduate in four years, but if I would have taken my advisors advice, I would have struggled to graduate in four years. My plan was five years with them, even when I came in with 30 dual credits from high school. USD motivates students by offering genuine, meaningful amenities. Freshman: Flexibility is probably one of my favorite perks to being at Southeast Tech. The amount of options I have regarding the days and times of classes makes scheduling around certain time frames practical (particularly when I have other commitments). Southeast Tech gives you control over the direction you take your college education which means you have a say in what you make of your classes. Not everybody fits the standard mold of what a college student is and that is what I love about it! If there is anything I have learned while being in college, it is my purpose as a student. I have come to understand how much I am able to accomplish. I have come to realize that I really do love going to school. I look forward to learning something new everyday. I have come to realize that I am not going to college for others. I am going to college for myself. I am going to learn my passion and I am enjoying every bit of it. I am making the most of it. Freshman: So far my experience at South Dakota State University has been great! As a student majoring in Animal Science I have been offered so many hands-on opportunities to learn. Sophomore: Currently in the second year and third semester of my MLT program. Definitely rigorous classes and a lot of hard work but for the most part it has paid off tremendously. I really enjoy this career and I’m happy to have great instructors. They have made many adjustments for the students if we struggle and make the effort to help. Exams, for the most part, are fair but still challenging. For those interested in this program, I recommend taking the afternoon labs for more one-on-one help from the instructors. Just know a lot of work is needed to succeed. Finals week is coming up and our last/next semester is our MLT clinicals! Freshman: I just finished my Fall Semester as a Freshman. This was hard at first but it wasn't so bad once you adjust to everything. The food in the cafeteria can be good but at the same time I would rather make my own food sometimes. The dorms can be nice but at the same time some are out dated but they are still nice to live in. If you want a roommate, make sure you know the person or just get your own room.. Classes can get hard but once you adjust what kind of studying you do you will do great.The people here are nice and are here to help you when you have questions. They to have a J-term where you get a free credit the whole month of January. You don't have to worry about this credit in the spring or your future classes..
