Junior: Boomer Sooner! I recently transferred to OU and have loved every single moment. The University of Oklahoma has such a large and diverse population that you cannot fail to find your place here. There are so many colleges, courses, and professors to choose from. There are entire departments dedicated to ensuring the well-being of all students, all you have to do is ask around. There are more than 100 student organizations on campus, cultural, academic, sport-oriented, and religious organizations for students to choose from, and if you feel any of the existing organizations does not cater for your needs, you are allowed to make your own. There is academic advising, peer tutoring, group tutoring sessions, a library database with more than enough information, and office hours provided by professors and teaching assistants among other services to ensure that students are supported to produce the best results at school. Senior: My experience at Oklahoma City University has been a great one so far! I am a transfer student majoring in Business. When one of my advisors from community college mentioned an institution that offered a great amount of scholarships to business majors, I knew Oklahoma City University was a great fit for me financially. Not only does OCU provide scholarships, but there is a strong connection among the students and professors. The classes are smaller and there is more involvement in discussions. OCU takes in consideration of developing future leaders in our community and in the industry we attend to. I am thankful to attend to a great institution. Freshman: UCO is a great college, it's accessible and affordable, offering many scholarship and aid opportunities for incoming and current students! I am a member of the musical theatre program and the professors are incredibly welcoming and everyone in the program wants to see you succeed. The student body is fairly diverse and very supportive of everyone around them, and the school offers many opportunities for engagement on campus through student organizations, greek life, etc. The campus resources are abundant including academic advisors that are always willing to help with questions and financial resource centers for both aid and payments. The campus is fairly good sized, though not too large that it is overwhelming to navigate, and is covered in greenery and inviting areas for students to congregate or have some time to themselves in the scenic area. Junior: Southern Nazarene University is a small campus that puts community, commitment, and Christ at the center of its values. No matter a student's athletic status, academic goals, or level of involvement on campus, authoritative figures intentionally pursue each one with the intent of getting them connected with other staff and peers around campus. Professors know each student by name and set aside office time to ensure they are on the track to success. Placing Christ at the center of the school's being allows students to belong to something greater than themselves. Sophomore: I really appreciate the community involvement and loving atmosphere that is found throughout Oklahoma Christian. The professors might be strict but they are providing adversities that will be faced after college and I respect them more because of that. The food at OC could improve by supplying more variation and allowing the Eagle Bucks to be used at more places; such as Subway, McDonald's, Starbucks...and the list goes on. Sophomore: Southwestern Christian University is a small university in Bethany, Oklahoma. The close-knit nature of the community has both benefits and drawbacks. In many aspects, Southwestern Christian University's size enables a highly controlled, interactive environment. While engaging in various community events, attending chapel, playing sports, or going to class, you won't run across an unfamiliar face. A supportive network is readily available in this context, which fosters a sense of accountability, acknowledgment, and safety. This sense of community and support has been wonderful, especially as an international student from South Africa. Being all alone in America was intimidating, but at Southwestern Christian, I had a strong network of friends and mentors right away. Senior: Good school, small classes, some teachers are very understanding, some don’t care about your circumstances. Chapel is mandatory apart from if you have a job and there are strict rules you have to follow most of the time. They have events throughout the year for everyone to be involved in the school and it is an easy place to make friends.
