Junior: I came into Rice as a transfer student this past semester. I'm happy to say I've found a place where I feel completely welcomed and appreciated. This is where I was meant to be. I am academically challenged and my curiosity is constantly mirrored in my classmates/friends. The conversations are fun and the people are genuine. Don't think that you can't apply because of how competitive it looks. They really practice the holistic approach and if you bring your unique story, passion, and perspective you have a shot. Senior: I've had an amazing experience at UT. Pursuing a career in journalism, it's an honor to be studying at one of the best journalism programs in the world! There are several good places to dine on campus; however, it can get expensive. Parking and riding the bus can be hectic although it gets easier after the first few weeks of the semester. Alum: I loved my professors and program at SMU! The campus is absolutely gorgeous and it's a really good size without being too small or overwhelmingly large. The school is in the perfect location for local restaurants and shops while being 10 minutes away from the nightlife of downtown and the entertainment of the districts. Junior: What I love most about going to Texas Tech are the people I've met there. I've become close friends with cancer survivors, people from halfway around the world, and people who've led protests! Almost everyone there is kind and willing to give you the time of day to just talk if you want. Classes at Tech are also excellent. The professors and instructors do an excellent job of covering material and are usually very patient with the student body. Speaking of which, Texas Tech has helped me to discover my passion for mathematics. Prior to coming here, I used to struggle and fear the topic, but after taking Calculus I've learned that It can beautiful and sometimes wonderfully simple. There's plenty to do outside of academics at Tech. A myriad of clubs and organizations are always looking for new members to join. Senior: Overall, my experience with the University of Houston has been vey wonderful. The staff at the student center are very helpful. One time one of the staff members walked me all the way to the building where my class is being held at. The professors at the University of Houston are very helpful as well, considering that they have 50-100 students in their class. The University of Houston made me feel right at home the first time I showed up for orientation. One thing I would change about the University of Houston would be their parking permit. Alum: When I applied to UNT as a graduate student (my second graduate degree), I was a bit worried about the rigor of the program because my previous two universities were much higher ranked. I was so surprised! I absolutely loved my time at UNT; beautiful and safe campus, knowledgeable and friendly professors, and the rigor of my coursework was actually better than my previous degrees. Never felt overwhelmed by the class size. LOCATION: Suburban. Very quiet, very safe. Never felt uneasy at night. Around 20-30 min away from downtown Dallas. Good for studying. MAJORS: There’s a little more focus on STEM/ computer science/ healthcare. However, the business school (JSOM) is really good! Has received national and international recognition. HOUSING: Dorms are pretty big. One dorm set up has 3 separate rooms, each w/ doors, bed &desk. And within that dorm with the three rooms, there’s a living space, an area w/ 3 sinks, and a bathroom that locks. Very spacious. STAFF: Mostly good. Only a few bad apples. Senior: Friendly environment with a lovely small town feel. Coming onto campus my freshman year I was very nervous because it was such a huge transition from high school. I was far away from my hometown friends and family in a town that I had never heard of until I applied to Tarleton. Thankfully, I was approached with open arms and quickly made friends. Tarleton has an amazing student organization that host events often to engage with students and keep the spirit of Tarleton alive. What also makes Tarleton so unique is that the president is often seen at various events and loves to talk with students and engage with them. Freshman: This campus feels like a home away from home. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, always making sure you are having fun and exploring new and exciting places in Canyon. Most of the professors I have encountered are really charismatic and humorous; they make classes exciting and enjoyable even when you have one at 8:00 am. Senior: I love Texas A&M Corpus Christi because it's such an amazing campus! What makes it so amazing is it's location. I love that it's on it's own island away from the city. The scenery on campus is what makes is great as well. It feels like a vacation with the sounds of the seagulls and the palm trees, which remind you that the beach is near if you need to relax and take a break. I also appreciate the friendly staff. All of my professors have been nothing but caring to the students in their classes. Another thing that makes campus great is the amount of floor plans there are to choose from and the places to dine on campus. If i could change one thing is if islander housing had a better management system. There were always problems with students in my building breaking things, noise, among other things, and staff just brushed it off. Freshman: I love that everyone here was so helpful from day 1. They all made the process really easy and smooth. Whenever I called in or came in person for help getting enrolled, I was guided. I’m an on campus student so I was really pleased that they had a program to match you with a roommate that you actually had something in common with. I love that the campus always has something fun going on for the students and also important things to help us improve such as job fairs on site. The school itself is a little expensive and have lots of fees which require you to get loans/scholarships to be able to pay for everything. That’s the one thing I think the school can look at changing. Make it affordable without students having to go into debt. But overall, I rate it a 9 out of 10! I’m very happy here....
