Senior: Hello All, I am a student at the University of Washington's Seattle's Foster School of Business. The school of business has its own separate departments from UW, and I'm sure other major options are the same. For example, Foster has its own career center and there is a University-wide career center. All the resources can be overwhelming for students, so I recommend clarifying which department a resource came from. I think the required classes are great and the major options are fantastic. The libraries are phenomenal and useful. There are always activities and events. However, because of its location and events, the UW does attract a lot of tourists, I would recommend avoiding the Quad and Red Square during Cherry Blossom Season. Although Suzzalo is the most well-known library, it also attracts the most tourists, and it's hard to study while people are having a photo shoot, the Allen library is a better place to have an uninterrupted study session. Senior: Bellingham, the town in which WWU is located, is the perfect college town. You can escape to the nearby mountains or stay in town and enjoy the stunning water views and enjoys hiking or walking nature trails. You can also head downtown for a taste of the city to enjoy bars, restaurants, and fun activities. The environment is truly unmatched. The school itself has beautiful original buildings as well as newer modern building housing the renovated Carver gym and science labs. My only complaint would be that since WWU tries to be so progressive sometimes topics that don't feel like they have a place being discussed in certain classes will arise. Other: I have yet to experience the atmosphere of Eastern Washington University as I am transferring from Bushnell University in Eugene, Oregon. However, in the enrollment and registration process, I can already tell I am going to love it there as my academic advisor is already ten times better than my last. I feel heard at Eastern so far which is more than can be said for my time at Bushnell. My time at Bushnell ended traumatically, and I am hoping Eastern provides me with a fresh start. Freshman: The rooms are really nice with a decent amount of variety, while the recreational areas are able to build community, but are, usually, non-invasive. The dining options are nice, although some items are definitely overpriced, and cheap food alternatives to things like fries and panda aren't exactly in great supply, wishing there was more alternatives in that regard. The professors seem qualified, likeable, presentable, respectable, and communicative in discussing grades and classwork. The school is proud of its history, but isn't misrepresentative of the time. Respectful to communities coming into central, but not overtly political. The incorporation into the city is really appreciated too. I started taking classes for one program in 2018, and then switched to two other programs in 2022, and for the entire time I've been attending classes there, I've always received a lot of support. Sophomore: I have taken mostly science courses at Shoreline Community College, the best part of which has been the amazing teachers! The small class sizes have given me the opportunity to work one-on-one with professors that have doctorates in chemistry, anatomy and physiology, cellular biology, and microbiology. When I say that I leave every single class with new information, I mean it. No exaggerations. As far as change goes, I would love to see the buildings and equipment get some much needed updates. Our microbiology lab caught on fire this last quarter and we lost our microscopes, lab coats and goggles, in-person class time, and so much more. Sophomore: My overall experience at Green River has been amazing. The environment here has always been welcoming. I love how diverse the campus is and how it has given me the opportunity to make numerous friends from around the world. Green River is a safe and eco-friendly school that never has trash near it. Also, they are very accepting of people and their beliefs whether or not you are gay, bi, or any other religion. I also play a sport here at the college and the way the athletic department is run is very organized and friendly. Graduate Student: My Skagit Valley College as a Running Start student was overall a good experience. I had many great professors, who always emphasized the fact that we’re willing to help us all. They were very kind and considerate. My PE professor even helped me on my graduation application process! My college counselor was less than helpful, but thankfully my Education and PE professors stepped in. The programs and diversity was great. My only complaint would be my college counselor, she would reply to my emails very late, sometimes months later. Freshman: Overall, my experience at YVC has been great! The professors are kind and understanding. They care about you as person, and they put you before school or anything else. It really feels like a community here. There's so much diversity at the school and it's wonderful to see. You'll be able to meet people of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, etc. Although COVID has made things difficult with being online or halfway in person, you don't get the same experience. The campus also has free tutoring, a there's always someone you can talk to or go to, to get help or ask questions. Sometimes it's hard to talk with the YVC main offices, and the communication isn't always great. However, in the long run, they help you figure out whatever you need, you may just need a little bit of patience with them. Sophomore: Lower Columbia is a great place to start college in a relaxed, but stimulating environment. I think the biggest draw for me has been the friendly, small-town atmosphere. The instructors challenge you to do your best, but also do their best to help you succeed. I am pursuing an AA in music and I may be a little biased, but I think the music instructors at LCC are the best! I have also had many good Gen Ed instructors, probably the most memorable being the math instructor from my first quarter. If you ever take her class, you will know what I mean. It was challenging and fun: from music playing before class, to the class work itself, to her great sense of humor and love of teaching.
