Freshman: Auburn University is a great state university! There are plenty of opportunities to explore campus and make connections. Every year they have over a month’s worth of freshman related events to go to, it’s very welcoming. Advisors are friendly and I have had no problems with my professors. Study and you will get the most out of your classes, though Auburn has plenty of free tutoring/aid for students as well! The only things that have been a problem are parking and housing. I live off campus, but I have heard about the hygiene of on some on campus buildings being below par. Parking is also extremely limited, and there is a lot of construction going on in Auburn. There’s nothing wrong with the academia itself, but be prepared to take extra time to park in designated areas and walk to classes. Investing in a scooter or bike may be wise, but arranging your schedule to be manageably walkable also works. AU is very thorough with campus safety so the only issue there is extra exercise.... Senior: I loved my experience with the University of Alabama at Birmingham so far! The campus is exhilarating, especially because it stretches over several blocks of Birmingham. There are "blue lights" on every block, making it a pretty safe campus. The dorms are nice, and so is the recreation center. The cafeteria always has good food, but there's also tons of restaurants around the city to choose from! This campus is probably the best in Alabama for diversity within the students. Junior: This year I am a transfer student from a community college so it's been almost my first full week at South Alabama! My experience so far has been nothing but pure fulfillment. My professors have been awesome at working with me and I love all my classes I'm taking. As of right now I am declared as a nursing major and I've already joined study groups with my new friends. The people here are so kind and welcoming that within the first day of meeting my roommates and their friends, they wanted to recruit me to the lacrosse team. Junior: It has been good! There are a lot of opportunities available for students. I attend one of the extended campuses and there is not a lot offered there. However, the main campus does a great job at keeping their extended campuses informed with events at the main campus. In addition, I remind myself of the convenience of not having to commute, it still provides a way for me to get the education I want which I am thankful for. It has allowed me to continue working full-time and being a full-time student. Plus, the small campus has its perks of frequently seeing familiar faces. Junior: The professors here at UM are amazing! The class sizes are small so professors get to know their students on a personal basis. They genuinely want to see each of their students succeed. As a student-athlete, professors also work with me whenever I have to miss class for games. The university is amazing at getting students plugged in and equipping students with what they need to succeed. Freshman: Alabama A&M University is a great school! The people are the friendliest of all and they are so supportive to each other. The staff is super nice and the professors really try their best to make sure you understand the lectures. The school has so many fun activities to do year around and there are always opportunities approaching! The scenery is beautiful. There are also so many things to do around the area! The only thing is would love to change is the transportation, we have campus buses that take us anywhere expect the Health and Wellness Center.
