Freshman: Tulane University is so fun and lively. The classes are interesting and valuable, and the professors are very passionate and care about their students' success. The campus environment is amazing, and there is an abundance of student resources. The city of New Orleans is a blast, and uptown New Orleans is relatively safe. I may be biased as a student at Tulane, but I genuinely believe it is the best university, and I am so happy with my decision to attend. Freshman: LSU is not only diverse, campus wise, but they have a diverse set of options for students who have specific interest. For example, for those who enjoy sports, we have some of the best football games/events in the nation, aswell as one of the best Recreational centers I've seen. On the other hand, students who are more focused on the academics, have opportunities like the honors college and academic groups. Ofcourse, it doesn't just stop there, as there is a vast amount of religious and inclusive organizations. Another great aspect on campus are the friends I've made, many of the residence and students on campus are kind and open minded. Louisiana State is currently changing. Theyve had new additions and renevations to the Engineering College and they are currently working near the Science Hall. Many of the campuses problems are actively being worked on, like more security around campus. I've really enjoyed my experience thus far and would like to continue my education here!... Alum: Loyola University New Orleans is, for me, then place where new experiences are formed. My first years there was a little roller coaster because of multiple factors. First, I am from another country, therefore the cultural and education system shock was a big thing. I met a lot of people and learned so much from the amazing, well-prepared professors. The institution is small, therefore the personalized education is real. Nonetheless, with being a small private school, one would think that communication with the administration is a smooth ride. Honestly, it was not. I had to consistently be on everyone's back to make sure that my financial aid and the payments where being processed and that it was what I signed up to get and pay. Sophomore: So far, my experience at Northwestern Stare University has been great! The classes are smaller than other public universities, and my professors know me by name and are happy to help students if they struggle in a particular subject. The faculty at NSU wants every student to succeed, so they all make sure to get the students in the classes that they need to graduate by helping with scheduling. There are also so many opportunities to get involved on campus- there is something for everyone. Campus involvement also provides an opportunity for scholarships, which is amazing! Academically, there isn’t anything I would like to be changed, but there is one thing that needs to be considered: the roads. They are very bumpy and a lot of the commuters and others who drive on campus have popped tires and damaged their vehicles because of the roads. Sophomore: I was hesitant for college because I had to meet new people and learn a whole new studying technique for the classes at LCU and I was really scared that I wasn’t going to do well in college. However looking back, I don’t think that I would love college so much if I wasn’t at LCU! The atmosphere here on campus is unlike any other that you’ll find in the state of Louisiana. The professors here are the sweetest human beings I’ve ever met in my life. The students are so encouraging and accepting and it’s easy to meet anyone at anytime! Junior: I love Dillard University! Since my sophomore year in high school, I've wanted to come to Dillard because it is a small campus, and the nursing program is fantastic here! I know that finding an HBCU with a small campus was number one for me. I love to be able to connect with my professors no matter which class it is. Professors have given me their personal contact information, which is unique because, at other universities, the professor may need to provide you with their contact number. The professors here at Dillard want you to succeed! The overall campus at Dillard is gorgeous, and we have been mentioned in the Cosmopolitan article that selects 10 HBCUs with the prettiest campuses. It is also relatively easy to figure out the campus and which buildings are which. The faculty and students here are lovely, and everyone is welcoming to the campus! Freshman: I've had an amazing experience with everyone from Centenary from the soccer coach to the admissions office. The soccer coach was extremely influential in my decision to play college soccer. During my unofficial visit, the coach took me on a tour of the school. I was excited about the classroom sizes and athletic facilities. The coach was extremely personable and down to earth. He convinced me that Centenary would be a perfect fit for me. Unfortunately, Centenary College is a private school therefore it cost a lot of money to attend. I wish my dream college was more affordable. I'm taking out student loans but I'm nervous about having a so much money to pay off after college.
