Freshman: Wichita State University is a great start for someone who is looking for a college and lives around the Wichita area. I grew up in Wichita and have always had a hard time fitting in. But at Wichita State University, I feel like there are many places where I could connect with others who share similar interests. I plan to finish my degree with Wichita State University and look for more opportunities that are made easily accessible by the university. However, my problem with WSU is the surrounding area and it does not have many sports. WSU feels limited in the freedom of students because Wichita surrounds it. This makes it harder to experience "college life", especially when I have grown up here. Also, I know there are complications with sports here, but I believe that we can bring back an amazing football and basketball team that can compete in college sports leagues. Alum: Washburn feels like home to me. It is an amazing place to learn in small class settings and has a lively community of students of all ages and backgrounds. It is extremely affordable compared to other universities in the state and has some beautiful new additions to campus since I graduated. I was able to have a 1-on-1 relationship with all of my professors and that helped me better comprehend the materials I was being taught and made learning fun and easy, especially knowing I always had help if needed. The campus is picturesque and the living spaces are comfortable and inviting. Plus, they just added a new merit scholarship grid that is based solely on your high school GPA, so you can get a big scholarship right off the bat just for applying! I wish they had that when I attended, although I still paid off my education less than a year after graduating! It's a first-class education at an affordable rate and I can't recommend enough.... Freshman: I transferred to Baker University for the Spring semester (2021) and have absolutely loved it so far! The admissions department was understanding of my situation at my former institution and extremely helpful in getting everything in order for the transition. All of my credits from high school and my previous University transferred over and I was able to get into all the classes that applied with my major. Another thing I have noticed since being at Baker is how involved the student body is in different activities and events the Student Life Office and other school organizations, like Sororities, have throughout the week. Sophomore: Ive been a student at Barton County Community College on and off for the past handful of years, and am currently a full time student in the Paramedic Program. BCCC has always being incredibly accommodating to me as a student. Particularly, the financial aid department has gone above and beyond to help me make sure everything financial is in order. Especially notable is one of the financial aid ladies bending over backwards, when I lost track of a particular scholarship, in order to make sure I had the help and coverage I needed. On multiple occasions, my teachers and instructors have helped me through class, especially when dealing with personal issues and complications. Sophomore: Independence Community College is a very small town college experience. The College is small, the town is small, you basically only have Walmart as your place to shop. However, it's the community that makes the town. The community offers lots to do if you know how to look for it. There is Pennsylvania Ave, where they hold the annual NEEWOLLAH Halloween event for a full week. There is also The Hub which is a Church program held in a movie theater, they offer lots of community opportunities and events to attend. The academic advisors and student academic programs are very on it when it comes to offering students help with scholarship opportunities and making sure you're signing up for the right classes and graduating. My experiences have been only good with the administration and the people who run the school or buildings that are on campus.
