Sophomore: Brazosport College is an easy place campus to remember where everything is at. The college is not so spread out, so that means it takes less time to get from one place to another. I enjoyed the campus; it has a friendly and peaceful environment with many helpful people. There is plenty of parking all around the campus, which is a plus, so you will not be far from your vehicle. The campus will also have these mini celebrations with free food and some little prizes for students. Brazosport College is also very close to Lake Jackson with many restaurants and stores just in case you need to stop by and grab a few things. Sophomore: St. Philip’s is an amazing college. With its roots, as a historically black and hispanic college, they make all students feel welcomed and appreciated. Sophomore: Being a student at Angelina College is not only educational, it is fun! There are lots of student involvement activities to do throughout the year. Going to watch basketball and soccer is also lots of fun! My favorite is softball, though, since I play it. Graduate Student: I had a pretty good experience here! There were some teachers within the nursing program who acted like they didn’t care, but there were far more who did! They helped motivate me and even talked me off the ledge when I was thinking about quitting! In my Final semester, I didn’t have any financial aid to pay my tuition, but with the help of my advisor and financial aid, which one of my instructors told me to do, I was able to find and apply for a scholarship and finish my degree! Sophomore: The Dental Hygiene Degree Program is the main reason I chose LIT as my college. As a first year student, I have completed Orofacial Anatomy, Instrumentation, Preventive Care and Dental Radiology. These classes alone have helped me identify the head and neck anatomy and record any atypical findings, show me how to properly use instruments, educate my patients about proper care and take acceptable radiographs. I really enjoy being in the program. This curriculum will prepare and teach me the skills for the Dental Hygiene National Board Exam and the Clinical Regional Exam. I also chose LIT because of their offering of free classes and reduced tuition due to COVID-19. LIT has been one of the few colleges that care about their students’ health, wellbeing, and success. Other: I think San Jacinto College is great! It's a helpful and cost-effective way to get your basics done and out of the way while not having to pay the considerably higher price tags that 4-year universities like to put on their introductory classes. The teachers and students I've met are all very nice, the campus isn't that bad looking and the fries in the student cafe are heavenly. My favorite parts are when the clubs or the school itself hold festivals and such. I've received a custom-made license plate, flowers, and even ice cream for free at them! Sophomore: I liked being in ACC. They give a lot of merit-based scholarships. The campus student life is more like a small town. (You will encounter people you’ve met before in your classes again in other classes. That way you can develop friends easily and have some commonality. Most people are generally very friendly. Alum: Sam Houston State University is a very warm environment with professors who really care about providing an excellent educational experience. I especially appreciated how quickly my professors responded to my emails, and there was never a moment where I felt that I was taking this college journey alone. There are also various student organizations that not only help students get connected with others on campus, but there are also lots of volunteer opportunities to help students get involved with the community of Huntsville. Junior: Austin Community College is a great path to higher education. I think it's great for high school graduates because it gives them a chance to grow more first instead of rushing off to university. The different ages and backgrounds of students bring a level of stability that you don't get anywhere else. It's a good place to get your bearings, knowledge, and skills to navigate student life. They now offer bachelor's degrees in computer science too! We often get referred to food pantries and the free public transportation access has been a great help for me. Alum: I spent two semesters at Tarrant County College Northwest Campus to get my Associates of Science. My instructors were almost all excellent, very understanding, and helpful, with the exception of a single online course I took (it was essentially a weekly assigned reading and essay with minimal teacher interaction). There are abundant resources on campus for students, with tutoring and dedicated help centers separated by subject. The extracurriculars were also fun. I got involved in the school's math club, music club, and philosophy club (Pi club, NW Music Association, and Plato's cave). It being a community college, the clubs were relatively small (5-10 people), which made it feel much more personal. The campus also has a gym and pool that are free to use, which was VERY awesome. The cafeteria is a bit lacking, being a Subway and some vending machines, so definitely bring a lunch. It's a well known community college for a reason. The professors are good at what they do, some are less communicative or involved than others. Sophomore: Collin College has been a great stepping stone for me. I have never felt so myself and confident because of how diverse Collin’s environment is. I enjoy going to school and feel that every professor and staff member there wants you to succeed. I really like how inclusive they make the school activities and how it’s free for everyone. I would like to see an even stricter security outside of the school. We do have security inside, but there is not a scanning component at the entrances so anyone is free to enter.
