Sophomore: I couldn't wait to share my experience with everyone! I was amazed by the excellent communication and thoughtful attention to every last detail from beginning to end. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel appreciated as a student and welcomed. With calming music playing in the background and a tastefully designed room, the ambiance was welcoming. My expectations were significantly exceeded by the quality of the goods or services provided; it was obvious that only the best components were put to use. The addition of additional diversity to their goods is the one item, though, that I would most like to see changed. Junior: I really love Murray State University! For the most part the professors and TA’s are really great. I have met lifetime friends there and can’t wait to come back in this upcoming fall! The only thing I would like to see Change is that I dislike that the online classes are so expensive compared to in person classes, and most of the online ones are not even full semesters. Freshman: I am currently a freshman at West Kentucky Community & Technical College. Although I have only been here for a short amount of time, I have had an outstanding experience so far. The staff-to-student ratio is small, which has allowed me to make real connections with my professors. My current professors explain assignments well and clearly state what they expect from students. If I have an issue with any of my assignments, I can email the professor and will receive a response in a professional amount of time. If I had to change one thing, I think that WKCTC could offer more niche classes. I am a fashion design major, but I cannot complete any core classes without transferring. Sophomore: You get told from all kinds of people that it’s “shameful” to go to a community college, but these are truly such incredible institutions. All of the staff here are invested in helping you as much as they can, and are committed to not letting you fall through the cracks like some larger schools will. Their transfer programs are very well connected to most of the state schools in Kentucky, making that process smoother than I would have expected, and their alumni services help with job placement and offer other resources too. Sophomore: Attending Elizabethtown Community & Technical College has been a very special experience for me. My mom, dad, brother all attended ectc, so it feels extra special to be continuing that on, almost like a tradition. Although many young people would prefer to attend a university, in my opinion what makes ectc so special is the fact that it is a community college, it feels like a small town where everyone knows each other. I have found myself making great relationships with students and teachers. One thing I would want to change at ectc is the activity rate, I want to encourage more students to help out around the school or even join clubs. For example, tutoring is a great way to help our peers feel more confident and comfortable in the classroom, which may also make our school as a whole look better academic wise. Sophomore: The staff and everyone I have interacted with at WKCTC has been incredibly friendly and helpful. You can tell everyone enjoys what they do. I would say as far as improvements go, in my major they are understaffed which makes it tougher or current instructors. The instructors seem stretched out in terms of time which causes delays in grading and keeping up to date with courses.
