Senior: It's a wildly diverse school, both for high school and college students. While school hours overlap for the two groups, college and hs students rarely interact, and it's encouraged we don't interact at all. There's good financial support and many classes to aid those with sensory disabilities and a few ESOL classes too. You can tell the teachers really care about their students. No athletic department or dorms, since it's simply a technical college. They prepare you for a job straight out of schooling, though, and there are apartments and houses all over the area. The food is FANTASTIC, the culinary program makes all of the food fresh every day, and they hire experienced people to help with said food. Sophomore: One of the first things that drew me to TCC was its size. The classes are smaller, averaging around 30 students. It's much more personal than a university and it's made finding a community and accessing help much easier for me. My development of relationships with my professors has also gotten much better. They actually have time to meet with and counsel me instead of being swamped with 100 students a class. It's amazing. A few things I would like to see change include the upkeep of the campus. It's a bit dated. It almost feels like a time capsule back into the 90s which might be nice for some. However, they have started some excellent renovations in one of the student halls next to the bookstore which is promising. It would also be nice if the Financial and Cashiers offices showed more hospitality and kindness to their students. Attitudes there can often be bland and unconcerned. Sophomore: The faculty are very kind and there are plenty of things to do at the college, events that take place, and clubs to join. For instance, there is free tutoring available at all times at the library which really helps me when I'm struggling with math! Also there was an event a few days ago where you are able to donate blood so that was super neat! I got a $25 dollar gift card from it! There was also a credit union company which was allowing free sign ups and offering help to students who need help with finances. They have a program/club called Women on the Way which is free to sign up and you get benefits like free clothing and scholarship opportunities. Sophomore: Great affordable school! I started dual enrollment classes in 2018 when I was a sophomore in high school. By the time I graduated high school, I had earned half of my AA degree. That huge jumpstart allowed me to complete my degree at 19. Although registration and other resources can sometimes be a bit of a mess, the courses and many of the professors are great. Senior: SCF has make it easy for me to get my degree! I am in my 40s and have three teenagers. I work a full time and a part time job and I have been a girl scout leader for 12 years. Five years ago I started taking online classes part time and was able to acquire my AA. After getting my AA, a SCF advisor told me that I only needed three more classes to get my Business Management Certificate. After taking the three classes, I actually earned both my Business Management Certificate and my Business Specialist Certificate. Then I started taking Bachelor's classes. I'm about half way through the bachelor's program now. When I call SCF they always answer the phone. It is ready to get an actual person on the phone to help me.
