Junior: What I love most about going to Texas Tech are the people I've met there. I've become close friends with cancer survivors, people from halfway around the world, and people who've led protests! Almost everyone there is kind and willing to give you the time of day to just talk if you want. Classes at Tech are also excellent. The professors and instructors do an excellent job of covering material and are usually very patient with the student body. Speaking of which, Texas Tech has helped me to discover my passion for mathematics. Prior to coming here, I used to struggle and fear the topic, but after taking Calculus I've learned that It can beautiful and sometimes wonderfully simple. There's plenty to do outside of academics at Tech. A myriad of clubs and organizations are always looking for new members to join. Freshman: There’s many thing to love to about St. Philip’s College! From the people, experience, studies, student life, and outside of St. Philip’s Campus. There is many people from many cultures and places that is meant to be for everyone. The studies aren’t as wide but are for those who need a degree in a year or two to work. Including the great opportunities like CNA, Cyber security, and mechanic jobs. Including possible certification after the degree plan. The student life page and alerts provide great details about events that will take place in campus, zoom, and other opportunities for college or jobs. My most favorite event is culture feast which is full of foods, people from the college or around town, and can be a called a small San Antonio experience in one place. Alum: I spent two semesters at Tarrant County College Northwest Campus to get my Associates of Science. My instructors were almost all excellent, very understanding, and helpful, with the exception of a single online course I took (it was essentially a weekly assigned reading and essay with minimal teacher interaction). There are abundant resources on campus for students, with tutoring and dedicated help centers separated by subject. The extracurriculars were also fun. I got involved in the school's math club, music club, and philosophy club (Pi club, NW Music Association, and Plato's cave). It being a community college, the clubs were relatively small (5-10 people), which made it feel much more personal. The campus also has a gym and pool that are free to use, which was VERY awesome. The cafeteria is a bit lacking, being a Subway and some vending machines, so definitely bring a lunch.
