Alum: This school is full of wonderful people. There a lot of students from all over the world with a brilliant personalities. If you don’t fit in, they will help you to fit in and succeed. A lot of students from economically successful social groups in the third college generation. I witnessed freshmen who drive Maserati and Tesla. Some professors are incredible, polite and have a tendency to like all of their students and treat them like if they were their kids. The parking lots are great. You be late for 30 minutes before classes and always find a free spot. I’m so glad I graduated from that place. Beaches are nearby and it’s a beach life. Senior: Biola's teachers are AMAZING! The online courses are well structured and provide exceptional content. Freshman: I am actually an incoming Freshman, so my review is of the family/student meet and greet weekend. The University of San Francisco pulled out all the stops. The students, staff, tours, mock classes, clubs - everything was amazing and informative. The speeches given were inspiring. The food and opportunities to meet other students were fantastic. There were tours of all the buildings by students who actually live in the dorms. The walkways were filled with clubs to join and prizes to win. And everyone I encountered was extremely knowledgable and supper friendly. They even had therapy dogs, which apparently they bring out during finals week - so cool. Sophomore: I loved the stem tutoring center and the free snacks available in the cafeteria. Staff including library and especially professors are very helpful and kind. You definitely have to advocate for yourself but I’m sure you do at other community colleges and universities. There aren’t many sports but there’s a ton of clubs to choose from. My experience with the counselors have been amazing, as they helped me complete the credits I needed for transfer and discover the right major for me. As a two-year college, the classes offered are mostly lower division general education classes. OCC offers an associates degree or certification for almost every major available. Graduate Student: I went into Cal State San Bernardino as an undergrad in 2019 and I majored in Kinesiology and minored in Psyc. In the beginning, I was upset about going here because I'd never seen the campus, and growing up I would hear bad reviews about it. On my orientation day, I was so surprised walking on campus because the campus was just mouth-dropping! I could not believe that the campus was so beautiful. Sophomore: I have only attended Folsom Lake College online due to Covid-19. Still, my experience has been amazing! The professors have worked very hard to help make the online environment as close to an in-person class as possible. They are always there to answer questions and always ready to make assignments as easy to understand and complete as possible. Sophomore: Anyone considering MSJC should keep this in mind: you will get back what you put in. MSJC can be a really boring and uneventful attendance, or a really useful and beneficial one if you get to know the people and know all the resources. Though, I think the biggest problem is simply the lack of not being given information at the right time. Especially for someone just out of high school, figuring out how to use the different MSJC websites and what classes to take for specific goals you have can be really difficult, so you should research extensively. Additionally, meet with/schedule an appointment with a counselor on Cranium Cafe! That being said, I am grateful for the classes and education here. The Honors Program has helped me reach better classes, so I do feel prepared for going to a 4-year, after Spring 2024.
