Senior: When I was applying for colleges, I wanted to move out of state at first. Being from eastern Pennsylvania, I strived to branch out more as I was coming of age. I had not seen much of the other side of PA in my lifetime. Pitt ended up being the last school I applied to and it wasn't even on the list. But I decided to go to stay in state but also get the distance and change that I wanted. Looking bad, Pitt helped me grow a lot as an individual. I admired the strong willed community that they fostered, especially when it came to supporting our sports teams and club organizations. I enjoyed how connected the campus was to city life. Regarding some changes, I wish I could see more intentional action for the support of minorities and LGBTQ+ members in the campus community. Pitt has shown support at times but there needs to be more additional inputs of policies and leadership action to make students feel safe. Alum: For someone who spent an extra online year due to the pandemic, the professors at Montco made the experience easier, assuring that there are many recourses for me if I am struggling both academically and mentally. I spent my first and third years at Montco in person. The campus is very inviting and modernized, accommodating for students whether they need computers to do homework, food or beverages breaks of long study sessions, plenty of lounge areas to work and talk to new friends, and multiple sports teams with amazing coaches. As a former captain of the women's soccer team, I can proudly say that it was worth the experience, as I met my best friends, got to stay active while being a full-time student, and feeling like a belonged. Aside from the experience Montco is affordable, and accommodates for busy schedules with online learning, and 24/7 online tutoring. Freshman: I discovered Pennsylvania college of Technology (PCT) in my junior year of high school. I immediately fell in love with its seclusion in the quaint town of Williamsport. The campus itself is beautiful and well maintained. This landscape hygiene makes an inviting campus for students and teachers alike to follow their passions. Many of the teachers at PCT have a burning passion for what they teach. Additionally, there are many options for students regarding majors. Surprisingly, as a smaller school, PCT has a lively campus life. With dozens of student organizations, there is always something going on for students to do. Unfortunately, however, the city of Williamsport, although quaint, is quite boring. There is not much to do outside of the college. However, that is not to fault the college. Alum: I love Westmoreland County Community College! It welcomed me at the age of 15 and helped me get on my path to my 4-year school. The faculty are AMAZING, the campus is gorgeous, and the education is absolutely top-notch. I attended WCCC for 2 years (to get an Associate’s degree), and I was never disappointed. Sophomore: Over all, this college is very good. Especially if you want to further your education.
