Junior: Over all my experience at UNC has been very good! It is a fast pace academically challenging environment. I consider this a good thing, the challenge and learning is exactly what I was looking for. The classes and teachers push me to work hard and grow. The mindset of the other students is likewise. Most students I encounter with are hard working. The main bad experience I have had at UNC Chapel Hill is the two lock downs caused by armed and dangerous people on campus. I do not completely blame the university for this as, of course, they cannot control every possible threat that steps onto campus. The first lock down a staff member was tragically shot and passed away. The university cancelled classes the next two days out of respect and to allow the students to recover. This was the right thing to do. However the second lock down class continued the next day as normal. Sophomore: I’ve been at Wayne community college since about 2008. I went to high school there and I got my associates in liberal arts. Now in 2023, I have went back to get my two degree in early childhood. I can say they offered evening classes in 2008-2012 but not for every class. They have come so far because now they have evening classes for trucking, early childhood, nursing and anything else you need. The staff is helpful in almost every way. If they try something new and they don’t see the results they are looking for, they’ll try something else. Sophomore: Although some professors were overwhelmed, some tasked with teaching up to 6 courses or more online at a time, I did have excellent professors as well. The resources that the school provides are extraordinary, with several student leadership opportunities as well. The campus is decent, but does not offer much seating space. Additionally, I would argue that a majority of the student body are under the age of 19, many enrolled in the middle-college program they offer. Thus, I do feel slightly alienated as an older student, which I would communicate to other prospective students. The courses, though, offer knowledgeable information and I feel have prepared me to transfer to University. Overall, I have had a great experience with the college and am very grateful to have had the opportunity to spend two years at a much cheaper cost with the same education compared to a four-year University. Junior: I have had a semi-positive learning experience at Cape Fear Community College. Of course with every school there are good and bad professors, and the same applied to CFCC. This semester especially, I had an extremely positive experience with my Anatomy and Physiology professor, and became more excited to learn every time I stepped foot into his classroom. His course was interesting, structured, organized, difficult, but I learned so much that I will be taking with me throughout my career. Freshman: Central Piedmont is a great starter college! It was super easy to apply and all the employees were so helpful and easy to work with! Any time I would need any assistance they were always very helpful and patient! As a starting freshman it is suprisingly hard to figure out everything right away, but they made it very easy to figure out and explained what I need to do. The only thing is that I really wish that their libraries were bigger, especially the central campus one in Uptown, Charlottte. It is a great campus, with many great accommodations and features. But for the amount of students that go to CPCC, I believe there should be more seating areas for students. It would also be great if there was more food options and cafes! Spending so much time there studying, I'm sure that students would absolutely appreciate that! Nevertheless, all my professors are the sweetest and super helpful in my studies! Alum: Wilkes Community College is an excellent two-year institution, especially when considering their online programs. Before the pandemic, the community college was already offering online courses that were efficient and effective, so the college was not totally unprepared for the influx of online students that occurred in 2020. Sophomore: Durhamtech is obviously the best community college one could attend! I love Durhamtech for so many reasons. This is a diversed environment therefore, everyone feels safe and welcomed regardless of where you come from. Durhamtech is great academically, students find it easy taking classes at Durhamtech because it's just not comlpicated. The instructors are very open for questions and provide extra help outside the classroom. The resources of the school are available for all the students to access. The academic advisors are very helpful, there's a variety of them and they are just always available to guide and advise students as they should. The library is also a very helpful resource for students, we really feel the back up. Some changes I would like to see would be that the school needs to improve in terms of the offices services. Sophomore: I have gone back to FTCC to get a few more credits to transfer to a 4-year college. Going back was easy, and everyone was very supportive. If you already have your transcripts here and want to take a few more credits to transfer to East Carolina College or another 4-year college, I highly recommend using them to get those last credits finished! The teachers and students in the Student Center are very nice and helpful. They helped me access my electronic book, relearn to navigate blackboard, walked me through adding Microsoft 365 onto my laptop, and even helped me study for my Praxis test so I could transfer to a 4-year college! They were so kind and helpful. Even if you don't go to FTCC, be sure to use your college's Student Center. I also like that you can see the names of professors when you register for classes. Sophomore: I love the small town feel of this college. I love the ratio of teachers to students - I feel that the teacher quickly learns everyone's names and the students learn who everyone is, so that if you have to get into groups it's not terribly uncomfortable. The teachers are very knowledgeable and I know I am getting an excellent education even though I am not at a big expensive university.
