As someone who graduated early during the midst of the pandemic, I felt like I would be immediately outcasted academically. While I was a straight A’s student in high school with a severe lack of teachers, I began to wonder if I was truly ready to attend college full-time at the age of 16. However, as soon as I entered the building I was greeted by the staff, and welcomed by a comforting and sincere environment. In that exact moment all my worries and concerns vanished! There is always someone around to answer my questions and programs to cater to my mental, emotional, physical, and academic needs. Sophomore: I have had such an amazing experience at this school. I am so happy that I applied here and made my decision to attend this university. Academic life here is very manageable and it’s great because of the small class sizes. There are no student teachers as all Proffesor’s are accredited individuals. I have been able to form great relationships with Proffesor’s. Overall there are so many social and academic opportunities offered here that can advance someone in the future. Sophomore: One of the first things that drew me to TCC was its size. The classes are smaller, averaging around 30 students. It's much more personal than a university and it's made finding a community and accessing help much easier for me. My development of relationships with my professors has also gotten much better. They actually have time to meet with and counsel me instead of being swamped with 100 students a class. It's amazing. A few things I would like to see change include the upkeep of the campus. It's a bit dated. It almost feels like a time capsule back into the 90s which might be nice for some. However, they have started some excellent renovations in one of the student halls next to the bookstore which is promising. It would also be nice if the Financial and Cashiers offices showed more hospitality and kindness to their students. Attitudes there can often be bland and unconcerned. It's the best option for in-state students planning on transferring to a 4-year university after earning an A.A. or an A.S. Freshman: I absolutely adore Lake-Sumter State College. It is about twenty minutes from where I live and convenient. Not to mention the campus is beautiful. However, community college is only for some. It is not entirely the college experience you would get at a university: no dorms and roommates, no food services, and not nearly as many people. I personally don't think it is a big deal, and I enjoy having smaller classes with fewer people where I can get more one-on-one help. There are so many tutors available at all times, and anyone and everyone are willing to help you there. Junior: Saint Johns River State College provides an excellent curriculum. From application to student, the overall experience is smooth. The faculty is extremely helpful, while the teachers excel in their departments. From on campus instruction to virtual, even hybrid they take the time to get to know you. I thoroughly enjoy the campus’. Just recently they’ve updated the student lounge, making it and enjoyable environment for studying, or just hanging out to take a breather. Sophomore: The first thing I can say about Indian River State College (IRSC), specifically Massey Campus-- I haven't been to the other campuses-- is that my experience with advisors has been the best. The advisors here are so thorough and understanding, even if that means supporting your goals of going to another school. They genuinely provide comfort and the best advisory for your personal ambitions. If I could change anything, it would be the professors! Freshman: I think Broward College gets a bad rep of being an old, stinky community college. The truth is, it is very modern and up-to-date with the best resources to help and aid their students with their specific career pathways!
