Senior: John Jay is a great choice for many students. I can personally speak to my experience as a STEM student in the Forensic Science major. The class sizes are small, so students have a more meaningful relationship with their mentors. There are lots of clubs and campus activities for students to partake in, and it's not unusual to be on my way to class to randomly see goodie bags or free food for an event in hound square! John Jay does not have a traditional campus feel (most of the population is made up of commuters) but makes up for it with its facilities. The JayWalk is a gorgeous courtyard where students often relax between classes and enjoy the weather. Furthermore, there are so many hidden gems for food and recreational activities in the blocks surrounding campus, which feel very safe. In fact, a few food places (shout out to Justino's Pizza) gives student discounts for food! CUNY is fantastic with internship/externship/research programs for undergraduate students. Best of luck!... Junior: Hello! My name is Cesia Arzu and I am a junior at SUNY Plattsburgh. This is a great college for those who want to be far from the city but want to still be in the state. This college is great overall regarding diversity, faculty, and students. My favorite part about attending Plattsburgh would be the clubs that we have and the events. The events are true to the students and are a way to connect and make new friends. One event that I absolutely loved was the Black Solidarity event that we had, there were food and conferences about the black and brown culture that you barely hear about. It was a great educational experience for those of color and those who just wanted to learn more about black and brown cultures. Something else that I love about Plattsburgh is the small community that we have here. There are people for everyone. Here at Plattsburgh, we are friendly and we love making new friends. Sophomore: UU's environment is overall positive and welcoming and meeting new friends is easy. The school prioritizes learning and student success, and most professors have that same philosophy. Freshman: Overall I like GCC, the campus is nice and there are a lot of elevators for getting around. There's flexibility in courses, with many offered online, and a lot of assistance available for answering questions. Senior: I genuinely love Hilbert and I am going to be very sad when I graduate next May. All of the professors I have had are very hands-on and work well with their students. They are always reachable via email - some faster than others - yet they all are reachable nonetheless. One thing I wish was different is that there be more class options or more specific majors for individuals who are pursuing a specific degree. Graduate Student: Saint rose is a pretty good school depending on your program! If you're business (finance/accounting/marketing), you'll definitely have so much flexibility in scheduling and courses! The professors are super helpful when it comes to course work and other personal matters. Some professors however are strict and pretty mean, but you'll fine that anywhere! There's always events on campus and people around, so the campus is super lively. The diversity isn't the best (it's semi better than other colleges), but in recent years has definitely gotten better! Overall I would recommend saint rose, there's always something to do on campus, people to meet and there's a whole array of clubs and committees to join. The dining is decent, but the food places on campus are definitely great! Highly recommend Camelot Room and Midnight Eats! Freshman: As someone who attends the Niagara Falls Culinary Insititute campus, I have absolutely fallen in love with the school and become obsessed with all my classes. I always feared that there wasn't an education available to me quite like the Culinary Institute of America, but I feel as though NFCI achieves all that and more. For one, all the equipment and classrooms are brand new, always tidy and organized- making it the perfect area to learn. All the chefs are very knowledgeable, no matter their specialization- and I have never learned so much from such a small group of people before. The small class sizes make it extremely easy for one on one conversation with teachers and classmates, as well as problem solving when necessary. The opportunities that are presented here as well absolutely make all the tuition worth it, from galas to buffets and the on-campus restaurant, and I am so eternally grateful that all of this is offered near me.... Sophomore: I really like the people and environment! SUNY Schenectady is always making an effort to renovate and improve their space for students, and the students there are all open and inviting. The professors are all super understanding and have your back 24/7! They have multiple spots on campus to get food and have open spaces to meet friends. They have a lovely space outdoors that is perfect to be between classes, and a new library with all the books and textbooks to help you with your academics. They also have free tutoring for pretty much every class! They offer in person and online tutoring. They even have free events throughout semesters with food, games, and raffles. The only thing I took of points for was that some professors are extremely hard graders (but you'll find them everywhere! No college is perfect). Freshman: SUNY Onondaga Community College is an exceptional and affordable well trusted school open for the community. The year of 2022 during the fall semester I was a high school senior who was apart of the early college program. Being given the amazing opportunity to take college corse classes along with getting a glimps into what college was like. Later that year I had to go back to the high school for the spring semester due to my mental health being in a not so great place. Now that time has passed I graduated June 18th, 2023 and decided to take a gap semester within this gap semester iv been going through the preparations for college. Junior: Excelsior has been a great option for online learning. A lot of students are probably apprehensive about taking online classes, but Excelsior has made it a very viable option for the working student. There is plenty of opportunity to complete coursework and interact with peers and your teachers, as structure and pace is not lacking. Both staff and students remain very positive support systems during the learning journey with much to contribute to the learning experience.
