Sophomore: Getting registered can be one of the most frustrating and stressful parts of returning to school. As a non-traditional student, I have had experiences at other schools that made me weary of returning. DePaul’s registration and acceptance process was a breeze! Freshman: It is a pretty great school. Especially since I will be taking Culinary. I enjoyed the amount of dedication the teachers provided in order to ensure my education and learning is pursued. Therefore, I believe that this school was my best selection. Since transferring, I enjoyed being in this school especially the scenery of being in downtown Chicago. Additionally, the major I am pursuing is in Culinary arts. I enjoy how the teachers help especially since they have 10+ year experience so I can become a great chef when I get older. Great school!... Junior: Going to college at SIUC has been so wonderful. The beauty that Southern Illinois has to offer really sealed the deal for me, I enjoy hiking on the weekends and whenever I need a good study break. SIU really has been great to me. They're very considerate and have been very understanding when I reached out for help. There's tons of fun events that the school holds which includes free food and t-shirts which is super fun. My only complaint is that the parking division is rude and hands out tickets left and right, but I think every University is like that. It has been so fun to go to school here and enjoying the beautiful campus and events the school holds. I really appreciate the scholarships that SIU gives out, they're very generous with both scholarships and grants. The dorms are great and the food at the dining hall is actually amazing. Senior: I like that the professors engage the whole class to participate and make sure the students aren't awkward and not talking to each other. I previously went to UIC and when we did group work we would not talk to each other and the professors would not do anything. At Dominican University they allow you to grow and expand your wings! What I would like to see change is allowing scholarships for European immigrant families, I come from a European family and it is a struggle to afford such expensive tuition. Especially when you are taking 22 credit hours and are 4 credit hours at an overload which is 5 thousand dollars extra and they give you no help. Senior: Illinois college has become my home away from home, and also has been a place of great growth for me over my 4 years. I have grown both as an individual and as a student. I feel prepared for my future career as a Dentist and Class in Dental School because of the course work level and the amount of effort put in by my professors. Additionally, our campus always has something going on for students, from Student Involvement Center sponsored events to sports events, and Res-life events throughout the week there is always something to do! Additionally, our academics are top notch. During my time at IC I have been an Honors Scholar and participated in Student-Faculty Research looking at Dental Malocclusion. These opportunities would have been so challenging or impossible to get at a larger school. Illinois College remained in person for most of the pandemic, with safety protocols, and it helped me to still feel like a student during a very weird and crazy time. I am forever grateful for IC!... Junior: My experience at Rockford University has overall been great! My professors have been very knowledgeable and helpful. I have been thriving at Rockford University and have maintained a 4.0 since starting classes here. I have learned a great amount of information that will carry into my career. The only thing I do not like about Rockford University is how confusing financial aid is. It's never clear how much money I owe, when my financial aid will be disbursed, and how much I should anticipate to spend for each semester. I thought I had taken out enough in loans to cover my expenses for the year, but I still owe money. Senior: This is a fantastic opportunity for returning adults or people with busy schedules that can't attend in person. I highly recommend this program because some courses run for 6 or 9 weeks. Every quarter you can take three or four classes which is very manageable. There are other ways to obtain credits, such as the CLEP exams or essay portfolios.
