Sophomore: A lot of great Professors and resources, but the college success seminar that's mandatory is not very helpful, and the advisors are overworked. Most of the students here are kind and the Grayslake Campus is pretty nice. They got new chairs this past year and they're great! There are a lot of places that could be added onto the tour that they do, because I remember going on one and I didn't know that they had study rooms and music practice rooms until my 4th semester here.... Senior: Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is an amazing school for students all over the world. There is value, culture, quality education, and diversity. They spend a lot of time supporting, honoring, and welcoming students by providing resources for those in vulnerable populations, the LGBTQ+ community, multicultural backgrounds, and low income families. There is great food on campus, access to transportation, mental health services, and community involvement. For students with children, there is a center on campus to allow students to work and work on their education. The professors seem to be more than properly educated and passionate. They use their time on campus to help and value students. If SIUE could change anything, they should try to provide more students with opportunities to afford the daily necessities that come with college living (transportation, fees, food, etc).... Sophomore: I've had a really positive experience attending Danville Area Community College. I began taking classes when I was a sophomore in high school. The courses I have taken, satisfied both the high school requirements as well as college requirements. When I graduated high school, I already had 55 college hours. This allowed me to attend DACC one more year before transferring to a 4-year college. This in-turn will help to keep the college cost down for me. The teachers I have had have been really supportive. I enjoy the smaller classes, as this allows more teacher to student ratio. DACC also has numerous scholarships each year. I was lucky enough to receive one and feel so fortunate. Sophomore: My college experience has been a good one for the most part. My professors have all been nice and understanding. Just like any other college student I’ve had my times where I’ve struggled mainly due to mental illness and other personal issues. The work can be a bit much at times. I think that has to do with the fact that I decided to take 4-6 classes for the last few semesters. The school offers a lot of help for it’s students and I am so grateful for that. They have a pantry, financial help, a gym, mental health assistance, and more. It’s such a great college overall. I would definitely recommend it for first Gen college students like myself. If you go to school In person, you’ll get to enjoy the nature scenery you could take a walk in between classes to clear your mind. Although I go to school online I do visit the campus a lot. Sophomore: I love KCC! I chose this college because it’s affordable, close to my home, and the overall vibe is amazing. Sophomore: The thing I like the most about south suburban has to be the professors in my first semester here things are looking up. The professors make the lessons more interactive and less like the monotonic lecture style, and they also respond to emails and questions promptly. Which was a big issue that I had at my previous university, I'd send out an email and get a response like a week later. Something that I think could be changed is more outlets in the library, a lot of study areas in the library don't have outlets and it limits what you can do on your laptop in a given time. Academic Advisors are always available to help with your college career, and transfer plans! All of my ICC classes transfer to any of the universities I am interested in.
