Sophomore: Both of my older siblings attended and graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor's in Business! Whenever I visited the area I loved how connected the university was with the town. It's very lively and roaming with many college students! I am soon going to attend and pursue my major in Nursing this upcoming Fall! I'm looking forward to giving it my all as I've already connected with students and faculty about pursuing my education. They were there for me every step of the way and relieved the stress I had about classes and schedules. I have friends who also attend the university which makes the environment even more comfortable. I am looking forward to becoming more independent and being pushed by this new environment to put myself out there by making new friends, connecting with teachers, and passing my classes! :)... Junior: LIU Post is a great school with a gorgeous campus. They did an especially great job in keeping all students and faculty safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and that really made me feel good to be a student there. Professors are all qualified and know their stuff, too. There is never a dull moment and they do a great job at creating a comfortable social setting as well. Only thing I would change is the faculty that works in the Promise Office. They are not always the most helpful and tend to make students feel like they need to fend for themselves in order to do things for themselves like building a schedule. Alum: I loved my time at Hampden-Sydney College. As a full time student I had the time to participate in Division III athletics and work a part time job, all while creating friendships with my brothers, some of which have lasted after graduation. Hampden Sydney is a school that not only challenges you in your academic learning, but also challenges you to evaluate your views of the world and think critically. Hampden-Sydney's motto is to "create good men and good citizens", and it certainly lives up to said mantra. The only things I would criticize would be the infamously horrible food from Thompson Hospitality in the commons, which is jokingly referred to as "the Moans" (use your imagination to figure out why), and the quality of some of the older dorms.
