Senior: I absolutely love RIT! Although primarily a tech school, there are so many unique people and personalities that attend, proving that everybody will find their people here, no matter who you are. Additionally, there are so many programs to choose from, and many have notable alum within the department. For example, our College of Art and Design is best known for their successful photography programs and film and animation. There are so many ways to get involved in clubs and organizations! From athletics to greek life, gaming clubs, and many more. There is something for everybody. Also, RIT's co-op program makes it one of the best options for students who are career-driven. Having the opportunity to partake in 2 (or more) paid internships while still in college helps pave the way for the future and helps them put their best foot forward when looking for a job post-grad. Freshman: I believe Pace University has a strong sense of community as a result of all the varying activities offered on campus. Regardless of the date or time, there is always something to do. Whether it's painting tote bags with the art club or making build-a-bears with Black student union, Pace provides an exciting and welcoming environment. This has also made socializing and making new friends easier. I personally have not have enough negative experiences with the college to make a claim about something that should be changed. However, several of my friends have had discouraging encounters at the dinning hall in the past. Alum: I had a really good first semester at Nassau Community College but unfortunately, I didn't get to experience my full year at Nassau Community College as the pandemic had hit and everything was shifted to online. Most of my professors that I had were very accommodating and patient to the transition. My only complaint would be that the advisors can sometimes be rude and not in the slightest bit helpful. I have one advisor that help me with a specific issue and basically told me to go to her for any help that I needed but then turned her back on me after I came to her in regards to another issue that had to do with my financial aid. Freshman: I came to Rockland Community College as a reverse transfer student after bad experiences at my previous 4-year university - and I could not be happier! I was instantly accepted by everyone, and the students are very supportive of one another. I have never met such an inclusive and diverse group of people. For a community college, I believe that the education I have received so far has been superb. Instead of memorizing a book, we are asked thought-provoking questions and I leave all of my classes inspired. I could not have asked for a better group of teachers. However, I wish there were more clubs and activities to take part in, but this is a small community college and almost everyone has a full-time / part-time job which takes up most of their time.... Freshman: I'm an incoming Freshman at Hudson Valley Community College, starting later this month. I visited the school out of curiosity for their new Welding Technologies associate degree program. I found the campus and all the services offered to be great. The Welding lab, including the Virtual Welding equipment was excellent and well set up. By the end of my visit, I knew that I wanted to attend this school and I applied immediately. I will be able to really increase my welding skills and be better prepared for my career. The college made the application and registration process very easy, with most things taken care of online or by email. This helped tremendously since I have a full-time job and wasn't able to visit or call the school during my workday. Once I start my classes I'll change my working hours to part time so that I can both focus on my studies and take part in some of the campus activities. I am very excited to begin!... Sophomore: Devry was 4 times more expensive than the community college I attended. But now, I'm working hard on my journey toward my bachelor's degree. DeVry is a fully accredited university and not a cakewalk. It is suitable for individuals who are dedicated and able to manage their time accordingly. You must be online 3 times a week to participate in online discussions. DAs DeVry's success coach, I have seen countless people struggling with form. Personally, it was nice to be working for a week. State schools are cheaper, but many struggles with the traditional format. It depends on your needs. I currently run the program and I will be happier after getting my degree. Also, getting a Pelgrant and getting a tuition discount can be a big help for tuition increases. It is thought that it is a sufficiently affordable and efficient school for students who need a degree, and especially at the point where online education due to coronavirus is popular, devry has many advantages in online education.... Sophomore: I enjoy going to Suny Adirondack, as a current student I can say that the classes they offer are very interesting and fulfilling, though I've had a few run ins with faculty and staff and most of my issues were quickly resolved! The fellow students are all nice and pretty easy to get along with. While I do not live on campus, I have been in the dorms a couple times, they're pretty nice! I'm a huge fan of the room set up! As per college food, there's only 2 places to eat, and it's what you would expect from a community college. If you're really looking for something good to eat their Roast Beef sandwich is pretty good, and so are their chicken nuggets. The only downfall of this college is how unaccommodating they are towards their working students, I've butted heads with plenty of the staff in regard to scheduling meeting times after class hours to just get help on a homework assignment, or just to ask for more clarification on a paper we talked about in class. Sophomore: I really like the people and environment! SUNY Schenectady is always making an effort to renovate and improve their space for students, and the students there are all open and inviting. The professors are all super understanding and have your back 24/7! They have multiple spots on campus to get food and have open spaces to meet friends. They have a lovely space outdoors that is perfect to be between classes, and a new library with all the books and textbooks to help you with your academics. They also have free tutoring for pretty much every class! They offer in person and online tutoring. They even have free events throughout semesters with food, games, and raffles. The only thing I took of points for was that some professors are extremely hard graders (but you'll find them everywhere! No college is perfect). Freshman: Trocaire is an amazing college and a great fit for me. I take half my courses online and half in person. Everyone is friendly and always willing to help. All the instructors I have had so far have been amazing to work with. There is tutoring available, which I have taken advantage of. I also belong to a program called Trio, which gives me extra help to insure attaining my goals to graduate. I have attended several workshops to help with studying and taking notes. I even received a gift card for a local grocery store! That gave me the opportunity to study more without worrying working extra hours to cover bills. Junior: Excelsior has been a great option for online learning. A lot of students are probably apprehensive about taking online classes, but Excelsior has made it a very viable option for the working student. There is plenty of opportunity to complete coursework and interact with peers and your teachers, as structure and pace is not lacking. Both staff and students remain very positive support systems during the learning journey with much to contribute to the learning experience. Positive feedback and constructive criticism is an ongoing theme to help strengthen enrollees academically and clinically.
