Junior: To start, living on my own in the city has been an authentic experience that has helped me grow as a young adult, taking on new responsibilities and meeting different people! There are so many resources and opportunities, some clearly offered and pushed, and some just found by research or who you know (so be friendly and make connections!). Regarding classes, my professors are very inspiring, with expertise and experience. With the educational aspect, you'll learn the concrete information (rules and details of a concept) by studying and reading; you have to put in your own effort if you want to learn, either on your own time out of class, or for an assignment. Discussions and work in class with the professor are more on the abstract side of things, regarding ideals and philosophies, making you think about the world around you and how you can make a positive impact. Senior: I absolutely love RIT! Although primarily a tech school, there are so many unique people and personalities that attend, proving that everybody will find their people here, no matter who you are. Additionally, there are so many programs to choose from, and many have notable alum within the department. For example, our College of Art and Design is best known for their successful photography programs and film and animation. There are so many ways to get involved in clubs and organizations! From athletics to greek life, gaming clubs, and many more. There is something for everybody. Also, RIT's co-op program makes it one of the best options for students who are career-driven. Having the opportunity to partake in 2 (or more) paid internships while still in college helps pave the way for the future and helps them put their best foot forward when looking for a job post-grad. Sophomore: Although the many buildings can be daunting to a new coming student, the environment remains warm and welcoming. The professors are fluent in their field and very accommodating to all kinds of circumstances and are genuine in their attempt to reach out to any student that may be struggling. There is a plethora of clubs, programs and other extracurricular activities available to every student - including an accessible gym and a swimming area. In my year and a half attending, it is clear that I made the right choice in picking a school accommodating of those who seek flexibility and opportunity. Despite my major (political science) not being prolific or popular, it is very easy to maintain and build connections with other students in classes or in the general campus area. The area is also accommodating of students by maintaining multiple places to eat or grab a drink if needed - in fact, there are starbucks located inside multiple buildings. Freshman: I'm an incoming Freshman at Hudson Valley Community College, starting later this month. I visited the school out of curiosity for their new Welding Technologies associate degree program. I found the campus and all the services offered to be great. The Welding lab, including the Virtual Welding equipment was excellent and well set up. By the end of my visit, I knew that I wanted to attend this school and I applied immediately. I will be able to really increase my welding skills and be better prepared for my career. The college made the application and registration process very easy, with most things taken care of online or by email. This helped tremendously since I have a full-time job and wasn't able to visit or call the school during my workday. Once I start my classes I'll change my working hours to part time so that I can both focus on my studies and take part in some of the campus activities. I am very excited to begin!... Sophomore: Overall, this college is informative and there for you when you need it the most. I've began the process to applying for many colleges, seeking the best one for me.
