This school is for those who want to bring the best out of themselves through hard work, dedication, integrity and perseverance. While attending here, the biggest lesson you learn is to ask your friends for help. In such an artificial stressful environment, you realize you cannot complete this challenge alone. The education varies with what major you go after. The engineering program, computer science and cyber programs, and business programs some of the strongest programs in the south. Senior: Great place to be for the most part! I came in as a freshman during 2020 and they did the best they could at making the college experience closest to normal. The professors are AMAZING! They truly care about you beyond academics. The people is what has made the past 3 years incredible. Professors, faculty, staff, and the friendships I’ve made have had the biggest impact on my life. I see these relationships continuing even after graduation. Complaints: It’s getting bigger than it’s intended. The facilities cannot accommodate the record breaking growth. AU should consider capping admissions at a certain number to keep it small. Parking is a nightmare. I’m concerned how the environment will change with the football team. Sophomore: I enjoyed the small class size, which allowed every student to easily access the office hours of a professor instead of frequently depending on the Teacher's Assistant. I also enjoyed the variety of extracurricular activities in the clubs and intramural sports, particularly, fencing, where I learned the basics of the sport and I was able to maintain the footwork and some techniques that I learned from kickboxing and boxing. However, I would love to see a major change in the night-time aesthetics. It is pitch black at night, with only a few blue towers with a red emergency button. This, along with he fact that the campus is open and has not fences, makes Winthrop a bit insecure at night for someone walking out of night classes, clubs, or meetings with friends. Sophomore: Aiken Technical College has provided a one stop shop for pursuing my Nursing degree. While taking my Pre-requisite courses online I was able to work and provide for my family. Sophomore: During my (currently) short time at piedmont, the professors and staff have been of great assistance. I am taking online courses and getting support is moderately fast and helpful. Any services I have needed have more or less been resolved in 2-3 days. Although the majority is good, one thing that I wish Piedmont had as well as many schools in SC is a more diverse set of majors. While the provided majors offer more than ample opportunity to succeed, having more interesting fields outside of the norm would generate more traction in my opinion. As I have been a solely online student I cannot certain of the exact living environment of the Piedmont campus such as the housing, food, and student interaction. But based on the multiple posts of on-campus activities and health and safety warnings on the Piedmont website, I can say that I would feel pretty safe going to in-person classes.... Sophomore: Horry-Georgetown Technical College is perfect for studying a specific subject you are passionate about pursuing professionally or just gaining your standard academic credits (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, History, etc.) to transfer them to a 4-year university. The academics here are great and the courses are quite flexible in terms of times of day and campus, whether that be in Georgetown, Myrtle Beach, Conway, or online. There is also a decent amount of diversity, and the prices are the best I've seen in the education world. If I could change anything about the college, I would increase student engagement, but Phi Theta Kappa is currently working on a student lounge to promote that! Sophomore: Took most of my prerequisites online and had a pretty good time adjusting. Online classes, I wouldn't recommend for people that aren't the best with computers or have a hard time learning computer stuff quickly. Your classes will be online still even if your in person but you'll have actual class time compared to recorded lectures or zooms throughout the week. The staff has been very helpful and usually answers their emails quickly but sometimes they can't answer the question or don't respond as fast as a student may want and your SOL and have to figure out things on your own. You want to be on top of your schedule cause you may not get emails on things to remind you and you may get help from an advisor for a new class and haven't been fully signed up because you needed to review it yourself. Senior: I have had a wonderful experience at Limestone as a student-athlete and full time day student. As a small university, it provides smaller class sizes and you get to know all your professors very well. Additionally, it is a close-knit school, with the majority of the students attending being student-athletes. Because of the large variety of sports, there are also many international students and those from around the country that attend, making it a uniquely diverse campus. In the psychology program, I have had the opportunity to talk to many professionals in the field, and even do my own undergraduate research. Alum: Graduated in 1992, the overall experience was ok. Denmark was a very small town and somewhat secluded. Not a city for a person used to a up beat fast city setting. Graduate Student: I really like Limestone University because it was a great experience for me at my age. It was convenient for me attend online and still work full-time. I like also it because it is located in up-state South Carolina. The professors are great, and they give you the proper tools to finish your studies. I only had one bad experience with one professor because he did not take the time to break the subject down to me, and he just did not care. Gaffney is a small rural town, but it has a great campus and most of the students and professors are friendly and treat each other with respect. I always wanted to attend a university and I did. My major was social work, and I am elated that I took the opportunity to pursue my career in my fifties. I had several good advisors guiding me during my journey at Limestone. Sophomore: If going to school on campus isn’t what’s best for you at the moment due to certain circumstances, definitely go to Trident Technical College. They have plenty of online-based degrees and certifications to choose from! It has been a breeze going to this school and I have never had trouble with any of my online courses and teachers. Not only are the school staff caring, but your teachers truly care about your progress in your classes. One of my English professors remembered me from a previous course I took with her. One day I forgot to turn in my discussion questions for a book we were reading for the unit and she extended my deadline since she knewI was always on time with any assignment she gave me in the past.
