Sophomore: Although the University of Tulsa is known for being expensive, they are very generous with scholarships (I myself have managed to pay for the full cost of attendance with their help). The small class sizes are a great way to connect with both classmates and professors, and the relatively small campus size makes it easy to get to closely-scheduled classes. Plus, it's a lot easier to enroll in classes when there are fewer people competing for a spot. As for looks, the campus is beautiful -- it's got a lot of gorgeous flora and excellent sights. I feel like the ambience of the university is a huge factor of why I love attending. There are dozens of resources on campus for pretty much everything, from tutoring to career planning. The academic advisors do a great job making sure students are taking the classes they need to graduate and are interested in. Sophomore: I love EOSC. There is a welcoming atmosphere at this college. All of the professors are amazing! They really help each student by giving their time and attention to every individuals needs. I really like how they hold students accountable for their responsibilities in the same manner understand if any life events effect their ability to perform. The advisors really take their time to get to know you and your future plans to help guide you on your way to success. They can show you different organizations to get involved with that may help you on your journey. I strongly recommend their clubs. I was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, which is an international honor society. I was the president of Business club and the Secretary of student government. I particularly loved how encouraging everyone is to help others participate in school events, organizations or activities. EOSC offers many in school scholarships that you can apply for. Graduate Student: Oklahoma City Community College was perfect for starting out my journey through college. I completed high school online, and before that I was in a private school. Because of this, I was a little intimidated integrating into a traditional school for the first time. OCCC allowed me to make this transition with no trouble. It truly is like a community in which people care about you and want you to succeed. The classes are smaller which makes it easy to connect with classmates and make friends. The teachers are communicative and make their coursework easy to understand. They provide good study materials and make the course expectations clear. OCCC is also a very affordable option, which is great when you’re just starting out. It has very helpful resources like the writing center, where people assist you in building upon your language skills. It is easy to find help when you need it. Alum: Being enrolled is great but getting enrolled is a bit of a mess. I wish there was more communication or instruction for getting everything set up once you’ve gotten your acceptance letter. After that it is smooth sailing and I had a lot of fun. I attended the surgical technology program at the health sciences center and we had a lot of opportunity. Lot’s of work in the lab with the teachers and even a retired doctor. I was very prepared for what I was getting into with clinicals.
