Senior: My experience at MidAmerica has been rocky. The usual ups and downs as a student, however there are many great things about this university. I enjoy the sense of community at the school, it can be slightly overwhelming due to the school's population. As for things I would love to see change is the finances for future students, for my years the school's price has constantly increased. Freshman: Wichita State University is a great start for someone who is looking for a college and lives around the Wichita area. I grew up in Wichita and have always had a hard time fitting in. But at Wichita State University, I feel like there are many places where I could connect with others who share similar interests. I plan to finish my degree with Wichita State University and look for more opportunities that are made easily accessible by the university. However, my problem with WSU is the surrounding area and it does not have many sports. WSU feels limited in the freedom of students because Wichita surrounds it. This makes it harder to experience "college life", especially when I have grown up here. Also, I know there are complications with sports here, but I believe that we can bring back an amazing football and basketball team that can compete in college sports leagues. Graduate Student: I think the social aspect of Cowley is amazing, and executed almost perfectly. Cowley is only a community college and not as big as other colleges, and definitely not as big as universities around it. BUT I will say that given that it is a smaller school, Cowley treats its students lavishly. And the way students are always given opportunities to get out into the community and experience life in a small town in Kansas. Sophomore: My first year at Butler was amazing! I met two of my bestest friends on only the first day of school! The teachers are also great. My public speaking class, which I was nervous for, turned out to be my favorite class of my whole first year! My biology professor made everything easy to understand and related the topics to our lives so we would better understand. I was also lucky enough to have the same teacher for two different classes which was really helpful since I already knew how she ran everything. The environment is small yet welcoming which makes it very easy to talk to people even as an introvert. I have also attended multiple sporting events which had high energy throughout the whole game! Freshman: I like that it is a quarterly school because I can get my degree on a quicker timeline! I wish it was more cost efficient, but the faculty is great about being helpful and working with everyone to achieve their goals. I have enjoyed all of my professors so far because they’re willing to stay up late and/or offer additional resources to make sure that you understand what’s being taught in class so that you succeed. No one is left behind and I admire that overall moral that is shown so everyone that is apart of the program. I’m currently in nursing and it may be hard, but Rasmussen has so many reliable resources available at all times. It’s amazing the different outlets that can be used to aid in homework, tutoring, extra knowledge, and overall a better understanding of all of the courses.
