Other: The campus is easy to get to, and the staff has been helpful with transcripts and transfer credits to apply to the nursing program. The clinical sites I have attended and the Clinical Instructors have all been helpful and attentive. The only downside would be the book expense. Alum: I was an undergrad at Central as computer science major, got my BS in 2019. I had a great experience, both academically and socially. I had an internship right after graduation, but pandemic hit and did not get full-time. I got another job elsewhere as web programmer, working remote. I wanted to get a grad degree, so I enrolled in fall of 2021 in the Data Science master's program. I just graduated in May of 2023, and finished all my credits in July. I am writing this review because I just got a job in Boston, and wanted to show a success story and share my experiences at Central. I am grateful to Central, as I had amazing experiences, got my BS in computer science and MS in data science. The best value for my education. I felt like I owed it to Central to write this review. I was not the best student in high school or freshmen year at Central, but I got serious, worked hard and got my degrees. It has paid off, and I owe much less than my friends. Sophomore: Naugatuck Valley Community College is a beautiful place to start after high school. Not only is the college free, but there are many opportunities for students to gain profit such as the STEM scholarship. As a STEM member, I can say that my experience was famaminal. Not only did this scholarship prepare me for the incoming college classes, but they have also helped me pick out my classes individually. These classes were specifically chosen for the student so that they may graduate as quickly as possible. The professors at Naugatuck Valley are fantastic as well. They are well educated and formal. They make college life much easier than it seems and more enjoyable. The campus is well structured, containing many programs that offer help, financially or educational, for the students. As an example, the ACE center helps students who are struggling with certain subjects within their classes. Each staff member is well trained and every subject is covered within the ACE center. Senior: My courses were conducted both in person and online this past semester. Although I prefer learning in person in an enviorment where I am connected with my instructors and my peers, I have been able to manage well through my online courses, especially because GWCC has done a really good job in conducting courses effectively where professors are not only lenient and understanding towards students with current circumstances, but all professors from my experience have done their best to make sure we still feel connected, especially those of us who are not living on campus and have classes that are all online. Freshman: Norwalk Community College is a great start if you're not exactly ready to jump right in to college. I transferred to Norwalk Community College my spring semester of 2023 and I believe it was one of the best decisions I could've made. I went to a 4 year university my first semester of my freshman year and it was overwhelming and very fast paced. Making the choice to transfer to community college turned out to be the transition that I needed. Being at Norwalk, it has allowed me to be more self-paced and a lot more manageable academic wise. I was able to feel myself slowing down and really taking to the time to focus on my work without always stressing. No matter where you go, it may always feel like it's hard to meet people but with community college, Norwalk has showed me that people may be closed off at first but it's more of just putting yourself out there and people will come to. Sophomore: A few years ago, I dropped out of art school. The courses I took in art school were unique to my major and school, so I knew most of my credits would not transfer over to another college. I was not impressed with the credit evaluations I received from most of the schools I applied to. After doing months of research, I stumbled upon a forum discussing transfer-friendly colleges. COSC was mentioned a few times, so I decided to apply and see what would happen. I was accepted fairly quickly and recieved an amazing credit evaluation back. Most of my classes transferred in, and the credits I needed to complete, I was able to take through Sophia.org. I have to take off one star because COSC uses Blackboard (hate it) and the student portal site is buggy and outdated. COSC should also replace the "College" in their name with "University" and update their site and branding. Other than that, excellent school and helpful instructors!
